Will the BOV help for a bit more power on the dyno??

nope.

it helps for better turbo spool up after you've shifted gears, and it protects your turbo compressor from all that pressure build-up when your foot comes off the accelerator.

Cool, i knew that... Just wondered if it would make a difference on the dyno... Cause I have removed it for the moment... Thought I must put it back for Saturday...

this reminds me of this one night...

me and a bud came from cape town, on the way in to stellenbosch a spannered up R32 RB20det tried his luck....

Pulled about three times and then, and every time, the sx pulled lengths, last try, he did that whole thing where he tries to catch you by coming from behind with a crap speed, and than it takes you like forever to catch up, and so he calls it a victory...

Never the less, as soon as he passed me, I gassed and got aside him, suddenly i thought i was gettin shot at, bah bah bah bah, i checked the blue flames from his exhaust, and his car pulled of.

We stopped to try and help him.

So he said he does not run a dump valve, apparently saw the japs doing it... ha ha. and his boost-pipes keep popping off, erm, no wonder...

He said its a cheap no lag system.... he he, so no you know.
just do what the japs do. ha ha ha ha

Has anyone ever tried fitting a Recirculating type valve thingie majiggie-mabobbie as the Audi's and VW's have. I'm not sure what the proper name for it is...

It works in a similar way as the BOV, the only difference is that it releases the air back towards the turbo instead of the atmosphere. This results in no turbo lag...

Any ideas????? Pro's? Con's?

Pro's "metered" air isnt getting dumped so the ECU isnt over fuelling for those few seconds.

Cons, you loose the flutter sound completely, its now all muffled within the pipes.

Phinx has one of these fitted

So how come most of us have BOV's fitted instead of these valves... It makes sense to fit them... Besides, my BOV is so loud that I hardly hear anything else, as u very well know...

Also Turbo Flutter is bad for the turbo itself, so do you not think that overall it's a better option to go for??? Or is it just a simple case of there being flutter, and it's just silenced???

Its been proven to be the better option over and over, it extends the life of the turbo and the motor to a small extent and is probably slightly lighter on fuel, but boy racers looove that turbo sound so Dump Valves are just more common.

By removes the sounds I mean as in totally on a stock car the sound was gone completely, sounded like a honda! The only way phinx got it back was a bigger FMIC and completely stainless steel poost pipes! But you have that stuff already!

don't know, this is what the dude said, and this is what happened.... funny never the less.

pipes were also so full oil... might also be a reason for things slipping etc.

anyways

After market dumpvalves are fine if you have an after market ECU...
THen you can tune the car to work with the dumpvalve.

Its when you fit a dump valve to a stock car with stock ecu especially that things go weird.

Plus fitting a decant dump valve is better than those cheap"O"s, as the decant ones don't leak on HIGH boost when I say that i mean over 1 bar to 2 bar. (NOt saying all lucky packet dumpvalves have leaks.)

some evan leak as low as .7 (experienced this.)
