Well we used all type of brakes off different cars, because its a midget we are not bound to different calipers and mounting, make new mountings and your off....

At a stage we even used the alfa GTV 3L brake disc with willwood calipers... Disc broke in ten thousend pieces after half a season!

Even went to bike brakes for the front, small, compact, and works very well, cheap to replace, seeing that midgets love climbing wheels with other cars...

Dont know what you comment was for VC but that is what I have experienced. Racing cars on a oval track really put brakes through abuse, worse than main circuit cars.... So trust me when I say we have tried ALLOT of brakes...

The 350z has a 324mm rotor. 44mm larger braking surface than the Z32 rotor, which is only 280mm.

The original s13 rotors are also 280mm right?

@speedbreeder, yes you are right. The 1992/1993 model had 280mm discs. The early models up to the change over year which was 1992 had smaller discs. If you dont believe me phone any nissan dealer and ask them.

The Z32 also had 280 discs but better calipers. They are almost the same as the s14 brakes but they are made of a lighter metal. So technicaly the breaking is the same but the heat resistance and weight differs.

Back to the 350z Calipers...

They wont be that expensive since there are like 4 wrote off 350's at every scrapyard. The brake pads will be about the same price as what we pay for and the "minimal" mods done to fit them will be worth the while.

I prefer a car with better breaks than a moerse engine! Give me any track and i will show you how I can beat you just by out braking you.

I proved that theory in my golf, my mates had golf pushing out 150kw where my NA 1.8 only had 94kw and I would kick their arses in every corner and then they cant get back infront of me.

Ask Mario he will tell you lots bout those stock cars and the problems they had. Those guys really abuse their cars and they stick to what is working.

what i meant was that everyone goes on about how good brembo is (yes, i agree... they are good) but noone seems to research more than what they can read in manufacturer's brochures or magazines.

it seems to me that there are many really good brake manufacturers out there, but i guess the brand name is what really counts then???

Not at all, name brands doesnt help for anything.

But Brembo is what worked for us under heavy abuse. Maybe there is something better, just havnt found it yet, and we have been gone with allot of brake types.

If there is something better it will make a name for itself and probably be expensive anyway!

No what counts is that they have to be tested. Anyone can start a company and manufacture brakes and talk a lot of junk in their ads and so forth but does it have pedigree?? Has it been used by racers and daily drivers and been proven good and safe. I think brakes is the one thing in life that you really have to think good loooooong and hard about! Your life depends on it!

wilwood, more expensive than brembo???

what about AP Racing, Alcon, Tar-ox, did i mention Alcon, stop-tech, baer brake systems, AEM, etc etc.

and all of those will be expensive, just like brembo is.

all i am saying is that there are lot of other options out there, not just brembo.

but i understand what you saying hanco - if you can find a set from a scrapped 350, then go for it. not many people in SA will have gold brembo calipers on their sx's!

Yes you are so right VC. I think it will be great.

The expensive part that I am talking bout tho is that the other caliper manufacturers build great calipers but they build calipers that just fit their brake pads and they charge you off the roof for those coz they know the brake pads are consumables and you have to and can only buy the pads from them. So they make their money that way!
