veecee for you i kill the bull, the first thing i do when i get in to work tomorrow will be dialing the number of masterparts 021 957 5757 who stock elring gaskets and asking if they got one for me at a nice price and sommer a part number for free. will only be able to tell you my results in the evening though. anything else you looking for?

hey man...

i'm busy rebuilding an SR20det to be transplanted into my sx!

so i need an SR20 headgasket. apparently they're all the same design (by that i mean shape, not material), from the NA FWD sr20 HG, to the AWD GTi-R sr20det.

i also need valve stem seals.

i've been quoted R1300-00 for a payen head rebuild gasket set for a FWD sr20de, its from the 200sti motor. i was going to go for this one, but i'd be interested in what ze germans have to offer!

thanks man.

Just a word on the gaskets I can comment that a couple of the guys are running the cheap R280 gasket sets and so far there gaskets are holding out... and its been more than 4 months... Draco's car has been running since well his rebuild with no issues... So's Toby's car...

I checked the build quality of them... could not find the difference between the Tong-Hong and Payen looked identical...

But I'm a firm believer in Payen, gasket sets is just becoming very rare, and they are R1100 upword...

right boys i'm struggling with trying to get discount at the suplliers but i haven't given up...

while payern is a well known brand its just not the same quality you would get from nissan, and i'll give it the fact that its lasted four months but lets be honest some of the origional ones have done up to 150 000km.vlade, i doubt there would be any visual difference in the two gaskets, all ca18det gaskets would look the same its the compound that matters.

on the elring subject it seems ze germans don't like the japs much as there are no headgaskets available for nissan from my boy, but that search continues too...

in my opinion, and guys please don't argue cause its MY opinion, rather spend the extra dosh and get the real deal. you boys are running turbocharged cars and many of you have modded and have big plans for further modding you cars. lets face it the origional gasket is the best in this application.

if i'm talking absolute nonsense please let me know, i'm not used to getting my point out via a keyboard.

on a lighter note watch the nds, next round is going to be very interesting...

and don't be a fool, wrap your tool

LOL - you're too far away for me to wrap you!!!

anyway - i've emailed the duigan brothers, and NXGen, to get prices on a cosworth gasket for my SR20det build.

the nissan one is about 850-00, and the nissan gasket for the SR20de is about 885-00. strange that the normally aspirated motor's head gasket is more than the turbo version!!!

anyway - i've recently read a decent article where pressure tests and sealing ability tests were done on various multi-layered steel head gaskets. the cosworth ones were as good as the Greddy or HKS head gaskets but at a FAR lower price.

at the cosworth online store, the head gaskets were only $125-00. which is about a grand exluding shipping!

hey man - the payen headgasket will do fine for stock or mildy upgraded engines. once hte power starts getting hectic, then you need to look at decent MLS head gaskets.
