Looking to buy a 200SX, what should i do ?!?

Post by IronBlaze »

Hi

I fancy getting my hands on a 200SX in the near future but want to know what i need to know before checking out cars. I'm not technically minded but don't mind a challenge. I have read the reasons why not to buy but am not put off or should i just walk away from the dream and pick up a Tazz or CitiGolf ?

Please don't make me buy a CitGolf

Hey man...golfs arent all that bad. Had one myself...infact I still have it. I bought myself a s13 about a week and a half ago and bro it started out with problems. I like a challenge myself but goo heavens its sure as hell is a big one.

Its a great car trust me but remember you will be buying an old car so its full of fix ups and needs loads of attention. If you had the love for the car like I did then get yourself a good one coz you will never stop loving the car.

But if you don't have the cash, like most of us, or just want a easy commuter then go get yourself a golf coz parts are always available and and you wont ever have to bother bout getting it fixed or serviced. Even a plumber from Zim can fix it.

PS. My golf 1.8ltr is for sale. Did all the mods myself and shez in mint condition!

Ja dude there has been lots of discussions about this exact topic...

The car has it's problems... what do you expect from a 16year old car...
for a daily driver and a car with low fuel consumption go for the tazz or golf... But for the ride of your life... BUY A SX!

here I a infamous quote by the great VC-san....

veecee wrote:with all of that realistic crap on my other post in mind, never ever forget that the reason this forum, and this group of friends, exist is because of these great cars.

they are more than just cool looking vehicles. more than just great potential for track cars. more than just panty droppers. more than just a bucket of bolts. more than all of that.

a car like this will become a part of your life, or it will become an incessent source of irritation, how you choose to perceive it will again be a personal thing. but most of the people here are extremely passionate about their S chassis nissans, and that (in a short concise way) is what these cars are about.

its more than just A to B.

and its way wwwwaaaaayyyyy more than just an expense on the balance sheet of life!!!

(wow - nearly lost my manliness there!!! - oh well, at least i dont have gay stripes on my sx!!!)
like I said to JayD

THAT Quote right there inspired me to buy my car...

what you should do is sleep on it till the feeling goes away then buy yourself something that is not a life time commitment in the fixing department
S13 - everything
something and something else

Hi guys

Thanks for the info, it's really put it all into perspective.

Damn, i've wanted one of these cars since 2004, they are so flippin' hot. Maybe time to re-think about what to buy. I don't have pots of cash around, but as a student i can always crash at home (lol) to gain 7K +/- a month for parts and petrol.

What is insurance like on the 200SX ?

I live in Cape Town, does anyone know of a company that i can speak to, someone who wont rip me off with knowing very little about the car ?

I wasn't slamming the car, they are awesome round Killarney! :D

I just want an individual car, i don't see many of them, also they are the dog's balls on the road!

Yeh my bad, i'm not from South Africa so i don't use Lekka

The dog's balls in Scotland is the equivalent of lekka in South Africa

Also i meant to say there looks are the dog's balls, i don't actually own 1, hence the starting of my thread
