Fuel mixture

Post by Charl »

Now here I have alot to learn.
My car has a pnumatic boost controller but is disconnected at the moment, and the boost is now 0.8 bar.
So its been mapped for this configuration.

If I connect the boost controller and turn it up to, lets say 1.2 bar
What will happen to the pistons etc??? Will they burn?

Here is my interpretation: If I up the boost, I wont get any more performance because the management system is only pumping so much fuel, the perfomance will only increase if I tell the management system to inject more fuel...

Im just woried about the hazzards to the motor if I turn the boost up. Disregard the strain on the engine. I just want to know about the mixture

Anybody? :? Calibrator? :D

Your ECU will up the fuelling slightly as the MAF will register more air coming in, but I think the CA's have a cut limit at 0.95 bar or something that will cut fuel/spark to save the motor.

The internals should be good for 1 bar or more, I cant remember all your mods, but the normal supporting mods apply. Bigger IC, better fuel pump / higher pressure, opened up intake and exhaust, perhaps even bigger injectors etc, but at this point you are staining the limits of stock, you will soon be looking at AM management, alternative MAF, bigger turbo etc etc.

The other CA cronies here would know more.

If you up the boost you will have to map the car accordingly.

Mine do it all the time and its drivable... its not very good for the turbo, just get a BOV

Basically the air compresses back against the compressor blades, this can wear your bearings on the turbo.

They say if you have a bov it should just go tshhh, and i have 2 on my setup theoreaticaly. its like there is a delay before the bov opens.

I only ran it without the controller once to see what it would be like... but im not going to experiment and so my motor.
