Nissan Exa rotors(discs)

Post by Speed breeder »

Hi,

Has anyone replaced the rotors (discs) on an exa?

How do you get them loose?

Don't shoot me because its not a 200sx

Ero - thanks, It has 4 holes and I'll check if I can get a bolt in there

VC - have you done the discs on an exa? OK, so not trying to sound rude, I am looking for sound advice... take the disc off - yes the question was how, as I have never seen a disc attached to a hub this way... everything's loose and it still stuck like a bastard.

lol Windowspyker - did someone shake your cage again...backhand pinky up...wfe...couldn't find a pic of Steve Hofmeyer in a speedo could you...

sorry man - was in a slightly sarcastic mood.

no i've never removed exa discs, but i have removed mazda 323/ford tracer front discs. if its anything like those then you have two options:

1. get yourself a press. remove the front hub/spindle/axle aseembly and press the discs off!!! that was a real bastard and i will never do it again.

and ...

3. take it to the brake professionals.

if its like golf discs, or sx discs, then they should just fall off! if they dont, then look for something that is holding them in (like smallish nuts/bolts) or tap them gently (perhaps they're rusted a little and wont budge).

otherwise - sell the exa and get another car with newer discs!

Thanks... I've got a feeling that they have to be removed like the Mazda ones you mention...

The Biatch is that its my brother's car that he recently bought. We had to replace CV's, which are also funny enough Mazda 323 2lt cv's.

He wanted to save some cash and hence we are doing everything.

I had suggested him taking the whole hub assembly + new discs to driveline and have them sort it, but he said it can't be that difficult...

After struggling last week with this supposed easy job... I am ready to personally pay to get the job done.

I would only sell the car if I could share in the proceeds...:)

Should be two holes according to that site, the sx rear disc is like that as well, my sx rear discs was on tight, so I RTFM, and it said to use a what what size bolt and turn them in until the disc is loose, on the SX it sticks on the back due to the drum handbrake thing at the back.

O I also used my trusty bloodied hammer and the discs didnt budge, rather just use the little bolts, much easier and less work

So here is what we have discovered on Saturday...

After taking out the 4 nuts holding the disc to the hub, the hub is still in there and the disc is behind it.

I don't think it wise to try and remove the hub without the right tools, I think the bearing also has to be replaced at the same time.

Thanks for everyones help. I think we gonna have to take it in to have the hub removed to have the new discs fitted.

hub removal isnt that difficult.

on the sx's its just a large nut that has to be loosened, and its off.

maybe once the hub the of the disc will just fall off, although i do think its likely that its going to be quite tight on there!
