Naaah he said Thurday / Friday nextweek I'll have my Junk, lucky for me someone is getting overnight parts for his/her Supra, mine just tagging along

But now I'm starting to rethink this whole build... actually do it decent, since I have the time.

Where am I going? I have a CA18 block at home, but its bit rusted up, does anyone have a block they want to part with?

Get a block get it bored to 84mm again, the honing didn't / couldn't take out all the scratches (in my books its not perfect)

I'll take the head apart, and change the valve stem seals again, and also inspect it while I'm at it... get some stainless exhaust gaskets lazer cut.

Are you also after these things like VC, Ill tell you what I told VC; USE BOSTIK GASKET WITH NO GASKET. You have a tubular manifols so get it faced cause there is a good chance it is warpped too.

If you guys are determind to get s/s gasket Ill get them cut for you.

yeah the cutting is really really cheap... my problem is just getting to the place and fetching it again, on the otherside of pretoria

Ja it is, but just use Bostik gasket with no gasket Im telling it wont blow, TRUST ME.

I have a block that you can use. Why stainless exhaust gasket? To stop it from blowing? Reminds me of this story:

Once some engineers had run a long transmission line from a generator to a plant. There was a fuse on the generator. When they switched it on, the reflections in the transmission line created standing waves and the fuse blew to protect the generator. Puzzled, they decided to up the fuse to stop it from blowing, so they put in a stronger one. They switched it on and the generator blew to protect the fuse...

Sticking with a MLS gasket....

BTW: This is one for VeeCee on the CA head how the hell to you remove the valves and put them back together, got one of those valve spring compression tools, but it doesn't fit onto the head.

Not if I can still use my current block... hmmm maybe I should check the state of my block first, hey? Well either way I'm sure one of them willbe usable for your purpose?

sounds like you trying to trap into a trick question!!!

my answer is i took my whole entire head to an engineer!!! and my entire whole subassembly block thing too!!! i admit there are things i didnt want to do myself...

but you need quite a large valve spring compressor. these valves and spring retainers, and little clip thingys are recessed into the head. so you need one like this...(these pics are copied off nico forums)!

JUST A LITTLE HINT - dont use vice grips to pull out lifters. a magnet is very effective, and doesnt damage anything!!!
