Just before the bend on the bottom, they say about 200mm from turbo.

can I mount it on the side? don't think there is enough space to mount it at the top

Mount it on the side will be fine. Mine is facing the back of the car, so the wire is coming out on towards the front. As long as the sensor part of it is in the air duct it wil 100%. Remember to aim the sensor slightly down to prevent condensation going into the sensor.
