True...something I don't understand....why would someone want their shaft as short as yours...it is very interesting...quite the oppisite of logic I suppose...but then again...the rules of logic don't apply when it comes to your short shaft
If you cut the cars std shifter shorter, the hand movement is shorter because of the shorter shifter. Since your hand still shifts at the same speed, the shorter distance necessary to cover the same distance, will result in a faster shift. If you move the pivot point higher, the shift will be even faster.
Personally, I would keep the longer stick, just move the pivot point higher.

i've posted on this topic about the fact that cutting the shifter wont help to shorten the shift!
here's an excerpt:

in short (scuse the pun) cutting the original shifters shaft will not give you a truely shorter shift. it will feel slightly different to stock but the amount of throw required to engage a particular gear will be the same as before!
i'm not so sure that angle has anything to do with it either. Wink
