cams... been proven with the CA18 head that you don't gain too much by the normal polish & flow...

on the trick side, I also heard that you won't benefit from cams under XXXhp with the CA18 motor...

I would go for head work then, but then full head work which includes lighter valves etc. The cams can be put it at a later date with out removing the head, the head work cant. Also an intake manifold would go a miss.

Lighter valves no then you looking at R 4000, plus you will need to convert to solid lifter just to get really any gains.
The cams can be put it at a later date with out removing the head, the head work cant
Nope not Really, Maybe a genuine set of tommi cams or billets, But I have phone around 30 place's looking for billet cams and I still can find . Tommi you looking at around R 6000 - R 8000 a set imported.
Also an intake manifold would go a miss.
I would love to do an intake, I have something in the pipe line that I hope works out, But I need to use the extra flow plus the is a big drop in low range torque...

Did I mention I'm on a budget around R 6000

Not Attaching you gary, Hope its cool :)

Agreed , But not 100% head work will gain but it has been proven over and over again that turbo car gain a lot from cams. As long as the exhaust / reversion pressure can be handled

What I meant was you dont have to take the head off to change cams so while the head is off I would do the head work.

This is what we need to know.

Old wives tale.
A set of 264 deg cams will give you between 10 and 20kw gain. Full on head work maybe 5 to 10kw.

Cam's ftw everytime.
