Vlade , Toby , Veecee... Help needed

Good Morning Guys..

As you guys all know I have been have huge issues with my car of late.
It seems it was not the injector that failed on cylinder number one but the head gasket.

I'm now looking at doing a rebuild, Nothing to the extent of "Vlade" just a small bearing job with a new set of piston rings and some head work to freshen up the motor, No new forged pistons and the likes.

Now I have a set of question I hope you guys can help me with, I was in the parts and Part codes section I just need more info.

First off where is the best place to get an oil pump? And If you use the midas Pump does it last? Can you get it from Midas or only dealers?

ACL bearings is there a guy in PTA / JHB that sells these? Or must I go through Rezlo? maybe calibrator?

Payne headsets, Midas aswell? are they any good? Or should I go for the ACL set.

And Lastly because I will be just re-honing the block, Where can I get Pistion rings? Only agents?

I will phone around today, To find costs with the agents and so on.
I just need some input from guys that have done this.


Ow lastly how difficult is it to pull the motor? I don't want to take the box just the motor? Vlade -- Toby?

9 out of 10 you will need to rehone, get it professionally done, the honing kits you buy from midas/autozone doesn't create enough cross hatching, if there is deep scratches in the bore, you only got once choice - rebore

If you go to the site I listed a Parut pump there, that is what I'm using so far its doing a great Job, I believe its the OEM manufacturer for Nissan, as the Nissan logo was clearly scratched out. I got it from Autozone

If you going oversize bearings your stuck at using ACL's Duraglide, ACL Race only comes in STD size for the CA18, they stopped manufacturing for oversize. Most engineering shops can supply ACL Duraglide. I got a set of 0.5 rods available.

Alert spares in Church street could give me the best price R1000, just tell them to beat a price you got quoted R1200 or something.

Depends on your setup hey, my house easy, got a I beam in the roof and I use a 3Ton block&tackle, A frames and engine jacks well they make life difficult, but its doable with a few buddies Very easy to take out, putting it back in is not so easy

Cool Re-hone had to be done anyway.

Depends on your setup hey, my house easy, got a I beam in the roof and I use a 3Ton block&tackle, A frames and engine jacks well they make life difficult, but its doable with a few buddies Cool Very easy to take out, putting it back in is not so easy

While we were putting the motor in, we did note that it would be easier to pull the gearbox and motor together and put it back in together. Lining up the motor on the mounts and the gearbox is very tricky! But still not too bad, we got lucky the first time and it only took about 30mins or so, second time took a bit longer...

Whats the number of the autozone you used because they have never even heard of these part numbers

The one in Centurion, not sure if the Oil pump part numbers mentioned is there part numbers, numbers listed was on the box... I got a picture of the box... if you want

There is seriously no need for that type of PT...
I have no bearing knock and the Comp is acceptable considering.I will maybe do a leak down.
