always hear people saying the brakes on the s13 are crappy. i totally disagree, i've never had a problem with them. they stop me quickly, and accurately (without pulling side to side, or shuddering, or anything like that). but i do think its wise to do the simple s14/z32/r32 brake upgrade if you're going to increase power!!!

So what happened from 1991 up to today? The stock 200sx s13 CANT BRAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! .They are crappy.Yes y called it.... shudder, etc. They all happened to me. Was there, tried that, got the T-shirt. Drive and drove the 200sx s13 since 1991. Can I be wrong after the third sx? Can defenitions of crappy brakes be so different?

You ask Nissan on history on s13 brakes. Not good. Fitted more than onces new brake disc, free from factory just to end up in shuddering after 5000k's . Then they replaced it with bigger ones. problem persisted. Not even to mention skeeming etc. Brake pads, the whole boksom dice.

Today, my s13 is fitted with Powerbrake. What an improvement. It is a good investment.

But then VC, are you not known as the ouma driver? No cant be, he is drifting, but with upgraded brakes.

Yeah also got the T Shirt 240Km/h -> 60Km/h very very scary, only the second time in my life that I have seen a street car's brakes glow, and in one try

If you get a shudder, 1st try to tighten the front wheel bearings. Then check for play on other steering components. Always skim the discs on the car. Good quality pads helps. Locally produced Nissan pads are CRAP!!! Only use Nissan pads if it comes from Japan, look out for the rice paper stickers. Otherwise use Ferodo or better.

i'm drifting on standard brakes, with standard discs, on ferodo platinum pads!!!

i dont like my rear brakes much, but thats cos the floating caliper on one side keeps binding, and then i get uneven pad wear (and probably disc wear too)!

but i've had no issues with them, yet.

i do drive like a bit of a granny on the streets most of the time, but i've given my car horns on plenty of occasions. braking was fine!

when i get more power though, i'm definitely doing the upgrade. most of the bits and pieces are in a box, waiting for the right time. (LOL - or the right bank balance!)

As a rule , I will always skeem the disc ones.... skeeming mean less disc , faster heat. Back to step one, juster in a quiker time

Check clean/replace the sliding pins on the rear brakes. High heat grease sometimes help to make the sliding pins work properly.
Like the Ferodo Platimums for hard driving. For track work the full ceramics is even better.

I had to skim the discs after about 100 000km of only using Nissan pads. Since switch to Ferodo Premier/Ceramics, no wear at all.

My experience of them is so bad that I wont allow a empty Ceramic box into my workshop.

I use ceramics on my Polo, the platinums aren't so hard on the rotor, but I've got them to fade... Also the ceramics don't last that long, well about 15-20K for me...

The ceramics you have to get lekker warm for them to really work nicely, I've had them lock up a couple of times when they cold.

I guess different strokes for different folks...

Ceramics are just to hard on the rotors, platinums are good.
