gaskets

my car found a new thing to break today, i swear it doesnt want me to sell it!
exhaust manifold gasket- how much and where do i get one.
figured i might aswell change the turbo gaskets while im at it, can i only get them through nissan or is there an alternative?

you're nuts!

thats a slightly more difficult job than just removing the complete manifold/turbo assembly. unless mine is different from stock? because i dont think i can remove the turbo from the manifold without it being on my workbench.

but maybe thats why my bolts arent loose yet?

I have change the turbo gasket in place, have to use some very fancy tools and you learn to squeeze your hands into some tiny places. Since I changed the gasket on put the locking tabs on, not one problem yet. The biggest problem is bending the turbo locking tabs in place, I think I had half the tool box under and on top of the car including 3 crow bars

I have done 3 sx manifold gaskets in place and not one problem.

its must be the tools. i had a few looks and half-arsed attempts before i decided to pull the whole assembly.

i dont have that many fancy pants tools!!!

i also havent done the job that many times though.

Ja it would be impossible with "normal" tools unless you cut and modifies them.

It is amazine how many workshops cant seem to get these manifold gaskets right, had 3 sx's that had been "everywhere" and the kept blowing.

yeah, i thought i would have to modify some tools to make them work, so instead i went for long way around!

although its not a gasket kit specifically for a manifold, they will be in there!

sorted thanks, so lets say i pull the whole assembly, how long would it take, i have access to a full workshop with lifts, tools etc?

I can removed and replace in 1 hour 15mins that is with changing the turbo gasket so work around there.

how would you rate the difficulty level, this is the first time ill be working on my car, i dont know squat! I'm killer at lego though

i have taken apart a golf and suzuki 750, and reassembled with no probs, so my mech skills are not non existant. If someone can help i would seriously appreciate it!

I would say its not that difficult but a real shit job, I really hate doing it.

just to make sure the gasket kit from autozone includes the turbo gaskets aswell? ill go buy them on wednesday and hopefully fit them on thursday, and then hopefully the car will work 100% for longer than a month so i can sell it.
