Re: When in Rome
Vanos is all good apparently. This thing cost 18k 'Rand' and its minty .. The only issue the car does have is a slightly slipping clutch, which was the reason the price knocked down from 1300 to 1000 pounds.
But don't be disillusioned I did not get this to keep and treasure .. its been bought with a single purpose - NURBURGRING!!! ...and some Isle of Mann - TT course 'testing' before we go to the Ring
I've been looking at options for a while and this is the most cost effective way to do the ring for me... you can rent all sorts of track prepped cars at the ring for around the same amount this 328i cost and less but the issues are ... a lot more rules, LHD ( Mostly ) , and 'if' you off it the excess is sky high like starting at '8k EURO'... and I prefer to race what I own, that somehow gives me peace of mind to push as hard as I want. Hopefully the car is still 'fresh enough to sell on afterwards to get some money back.
I Leave SA in 2 weeks for the first stop IOM - TT. During the 2 week stay there we will do as much as possible to the Bmer to make it more track ready.
So keen!

Nope, bought it on the Isle of Mann. The Private plates cost around 300 pound.

Re: When in Rome
What a choca block week last week was... The TT is something to behold, and I pretty much had the best week any petrol head could ask for thanks to my brother and some mates. From rubbing shoulders with okes like Kieth from the band Prodigy and proper racers like Guy Martin... To racing over the TT course daily in the new bemer. I've never driven a course like it... The mountain section I was averaging over 200 for around 5 to 6 minutes non stop... basically flat out, quite ridiculous.
As for the bemmer .. managed to get a lot done in preparation for the Ring trip.
New Clutch
New dimpled and grooved brake discs all round.
Ebc yellow stuff pads all round
Balanced coil overs and raised to a usable height.
SS braided brake lines
17' mags of a E46
Bridgestone 0002's
Steel water pump
AC system removed
Full engine service . Filters . Plugs . Fluids ...
+ + ..
Crazy times, will post pix when I get a sec. Currently in Greece enjoying ouzo & go karts back in uk next week for the road trip to Germany, gonna be epic!
