Head gasket
Hi all.
What would you guys recommend as a good head gasket. I don't want to buy a metal gasket. Will Payen gaskets be good enough if boost won't exceed 1.5bar?

Thanks everyone.
And yes I am being a bit lazy, but also don't want to phone and tell someone I am looking for a gasket for a nissan 200sx s13 and get the reply huh, is that a sentra?, or sounds like an uno, and then quote the engine CA18DET and be referred to the agents, who also don't know any of the above. Having built my car and trying to source a lot of parts in the past year I have heard it all. Pitty I only caught wind of this website now almost 13months after my project started.
You either don't find what you are looking for, or you do find it but could buy a small car at the price they want to charge you - injectors, mountings, management system, clutch etc. That's why most of my parts are after market goodies and some even from BMW's, FORD's and VW's.
Thanks again and thanks for the quick reply

contact rezlo, or visit rezlo.com on the net, he has a gasket for you. i just got the cometic for my s14 (havent got the car back yet but should have it by tomorrow). i have just heard horror stories about aftermarket gaskets, so listen to vlade and go with the cometic. it will save you tears later.
I think animal testing is a terrible idea - they get all nervous and give the wrong answers!

Read up about the cometic gasket - seems that they are a couple of thin layers of metal pressed together, or synthetic materials.
Is there no risk that the head gasket won't blow when something goes wrong and I end up hurting something else more expesive?
I am also replacing the pistons with forged ones, and thinking about replacing the rods and bearings.
Also what pistons CP or Arias?

:
"...we manufacture our gaskets from a wide range of materials. Whether the situation calls for the latest in advanced technology like our MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) gasket, or a synthetic blend such as our Aramid Fiber, Cometic has the answer."

You could try that Turbo place in Florida. Don't have a number for them but they are close to the lake, a block down the road from the applebite there's a garage and battery centre and the place is between the two.Speed breeder wrote:Where can I get a cosmetic/acl gasket for a CA18DET in Johannesburg/Roodepoort?
Doubt they'll have stock though.
