Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
i wouldn't be keeping my aircon in my car so removed it and its engine bay components from the car
i started by releasing the pressure in the system, or lack there of, from these 2 valves
one located under the abs unit on the aircon hard line/pipe
and the other by the aircon radiator and bottle at the front of the car
i then disconnected the line going from the front of the system to the firewall
i then disconnected the line where it connects to the aircon radiator in the front, by the headlight adjuster
next i unbolted the radiator from the radiator support
i then disconnected the plug to the aircon tank
i then disconnected the plug connected to the ac compressor/pump, as well as the hard line connecting to the compressor
i then just cut the ac belt as i wasn't going to use or re use it
then its just a question of removing the compressor from the motor
here is the bracket and the bolts holding it in place that need to be removed
then underneath where you have to unbolt it
then remove and done

ya, removing the abs, i want to make the car as simple as possible, and as little "extra" systems as possible, it already confuses me soo much lol
also got skyline brakes going on
and one day when i learn to drift you want lock up etc

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
so next up was removing the power steering lines
first i disconnected the banjo fitting i think it is where it connects to the power steering pump
next i disconnected the line connecting to the power steering fluid reservoir
i then removed the reservoir by unbolting the bracket here
i then disconnected the last line that runs to the lines on the subframe feeding to the steering rack
then what it looks like with the lines removed

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
just realized i posted power steering lines before abs removal but that s how its actually happened anyway so anyway..
the big abs mess just had to go, mainly for weight/space reasons
first i disconnected and labeled the brake lines feeding into the abs unit
then theres a nut fastening the unit to its bracket on the side where the brake lines feed in that must be unfastened
then on the opposite side of the abs unit there is another one as well
then another one on the firewall facing side which is the last nut for the abs unit bracket
now the unit is loose but you must still disconnect the electrical plugs for the unit here
there is a bracket that must just be pushed (i just hammer tapped it) in the wheel well/arch that holds the electric plug connections
last bit holding the bracket/unit in place
then this is the bulk you get to get rid of, yay
much better i think

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
i then removed my fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator
you first just pull the filter out of its clamp then disconnect the hose clamps on the filter and remove the hoses
some fuel will come out so i suggest you have something there to catch it
i then removed the fuel line leading to the fuel rail
i then disconnected the lines on the fpr and undid the hose clamp fastening it to the car..
mech tech fpr, ive never heard of it, anyone?
and the vacuum hose
with it removed

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
question,
is the original turbo not suppose to say Garret and have a plaque and say the A/R etc??
i guess this is a replacement turbo then?

then the work really begins

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
ok,
so its been a long time since the last update,
things happened a while ago, but just didn't post anything..
so the next step in my process was disconnecting the engine harness from the engine and the throttle cable,
unfortunately the photo's taken of the harness removal found their way of the side of a tall building on my friends iphone
but here is the throttle cable
first remove the cable from the bracket, just pull back the throttle cable, make some slack and work the end anchor out
then loosen the nut releasing it from the intake mani

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
next up was removing the exhaust,
i must say, quite a las by yourself with the car on the ground
but i pushed on
first up i loosened the bolts connecting the down pipe to the turbo, and worked my way back from there
then just after down pipe the flex piece there is a bracket the was unbolted
then working your way pack from the towards the rear of the car there are a series of hooks and super hard rubber hangers that need to be removed,
some are a pain
then getting that whole system out from under a car on the ground was the real fun...

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
lastly after that was disconnecting the 2 piece drive shaft and taking of the engine mount nuts
unfortunately, again, the photo's of the drive shaft removal were lost, but its simple enough, remove the cradle that supports the center bearing, the input shaft should be able to slide out the gearbox working it around,
then remove the 4 bolts connecting to the diff, you may need to roll the car back or forwards to access them
then lastly was removing the nuts holding the engine brackets to the engine mounts
ready to go

Re: Nirvash - Type Zero - S13
ok so the engine was ready to come out,
i had my brother help me, thanks bro, two sets of hands seemed much better then 1 although it can be done,
i wanted to buy and use chains, but he is a climber and insisted that his slings would hold so i put my trust in his slings, which worked, but in the future will always use chains
we connected the slings to the engine bracket on either side, and 1 around the gb bell housing
then proceeded to lift and tilt the CA18 till it slid out
was my first time lifting an engine and it all seemed to go smoothly
here is how we did it
