Wanted: N1 or upgraded turbos for RB26dett

Post by Raymond R31 »

As the topic suggests, looking for upgraded turbos for RB26. Stock ones are fine but while they off it might be good idea to upgrade. Anyone have some lying around? Email me with pics and price at raymondloots@gmail.com. Open to suggestions, I believe they can be upgraded but who do I contact.

Thanks gents [smilie=200sx_200sx.gif]

Whichever route you follow make sure that you don't end up with the original ceramic turbines back on the motor. The answer is really determined by your power aspirations.
I too started down the mild upgrade path... Broke those...
HKS 2860's (second hand *dumb dumb dumb*) - laggy monsters that in their life in my GTR were reconditioned twice, blew an oil seal once that starved the bottom end and then threw a bearing and finally cracked one of the housings
Garret GTX35... Single turbo conversion making 700hp all day on pump fuel...

Point being if you want significant power in the future of your motor make the jump early to a new generation ball bearing, billet wheeled turbo and save yourself a fortune in the future.

Oh, and I have those 2860's (one with a cracked housing) if you wish to play with them and your bank account;-)

Sounds like a world of pain. Not planning to much power, 450 horse sounds ample. Single conversion sounds like a big conversion with management, plumbing etc. I just dont want to put the ceramic units back for obvious reasons.
Thanks I like your advise and will consider that route for sure.

Thanks will look into it. I am a little pushed for time and with everything shutting down soon I can see myself rush into something stupid now.
