yay another problem solved!!!

Post by SonOfAnarchy ZA »

everytime i turn this car on its got another issue  has anyone ever had this happen. after the car heats up to a third on the gauge the car stalls doesnt matter weather you give it gas or not it just dies and wont start again till the next day. could it be because my engine temp sensor is buggered or is it something else?

it can be the ecu temp sensor.
check ecu for fault codes

well it could I suppose, it seems rather extreme. With the sensor not working there is no warm up fuel enrichment. It defaults to a value at start-up and then switches to 80deg or something.
I drove with a faulty one for a while, it was heavy on juice and was quite lazy but never straight out died.
You need to replace it anyway so just start there.

ECU coolant temp sensor is R580 from nissan, asked them the other day for my ca18, its the 2-pin sensor next to single pin gauge temp sensor, they mess around on the mini coopers aswell and cause over feuling, shouldn't cause car to stall tho, perhaps one of your cold idle valve or your idle air valve is opening at the wrong time or perhaps stuck open.

Also check your plugs and wires, those plugs are old and most of the time the clips are broken so they can come loose quite easily, also make sure you don't have the idle air valve plug connected to the ecu temp sensor as I think those 2 plugs can go on either one, that goes for the cold idle valve on the manifold itself aswell, they all 2pin plugs almost the same as the injector plugs

ok so found a vacuum leak temp sensor was fine just the plug was stuffed! now i get no errors but the problem still remains  how do i check my idle valves and were exactly are they? another thing i notice was the motor seems to rev up real slow as if there is load on the motor and after trying to keep the motor alive when it starts to die i notice a hissing sound coming out o the cone filter any ideas?

ok so still nothing ive replaced the engine coolant temp sensor found a leak by the idle valve but still nothing the car still dies at the exact same temp as it usually does idle valve is not sticky and klicks when i put 12v on it so dont think thats faulty. if iv put the wrong plug on the idle valve it would throw up a error i dont think that is a problem. im running out of ideas and one got any?

i just checked the out going pipe is warm but the incoming is not would that be a possible cause cuz the car doesnt get real hot the gauge gets up to a third more or less where about should the thermostat open? shirly if it was faulty the car would over heat
