Re: Sr20 help (UPDATED) pg2
Quik question, i replaced bearings and piston rings and blocks been honed i have been doing some reading and they say that i must drive the motor in 1000miles with semi synthetic oil as it helps the piston rings seat in the block and the full synthetic prevents the rings from seating in the block, How true is this?

Very weird that... maybe just the make. Dunno about that because I bought 1 OEM Nissan Set and 1 other brand and they were exactly the same and the ring gaps also.k.y.l.e. wrote:Hey guys the sr20de piston rings do not work in the sr20det not sure why but the gap of the top piston ring must be 0,03 i measured it and its 0,65 wich is way way to big, i have standard sr20det pistons the piston fits snug in the block so it couldnt be that they honed it too much any body know what piston rings i must get its urgent im sooooo fed up now!! Go OEM from Nissan then if you want to be 100% sure...

Find it weird aswell as im sure all std sr20det piston rings are all the same size if so im really stressing as what other option do i have as to take over size piston rings and grind it down to fit is too risky dammm man i dont know what to dophoenix s14 wrote:Very weird that... maybe just the make. Re: Sr20 help (UPDATED) pg2
Hey guys i have a huge problem concerning piston ring eng gap, the nissan s14 mannual says the top piston ring end gap must be 0,30 to 0,40 now i got a set of GRANT de piston rings and i put the piston rings in the block and pushed it down with a piston to the middle of the block and measured the piston ring end gaP with a feeler gauge and it was 0,45mm iv been doing some reading and they say between 0,017"(0,43mm) and 0,019"(0,48mm) is safe now how true is this? This specs is all for sr20det.
