STD Air flow meter restrictive?

Post by Twakkie »

I opened my air box for the first time and I was shocked!! How small is that opening (air flow meter section). It reduces a lot doesn’t it? That must restrict some power? Isn’t there another air flow meter that fits in its place with a better diameter opening (increase air flow)?

That MAF will support more power than the stock injectors. So no, it is the right size for the application.
Also, it is basically the same diameter as the turbo inlet.

But yes, there are upgrades available that are less restrictive to flow. None that will work with stock management, though.

Okay I see. The reason for me asking is im going to have a front mounted intercooler fitted so I was thinking to fit a bigger afm and plumbing that is fitting. so with my std management system it would be best to keep the std afm for now?
