Why is my CA18 Running Rich

Post by troopiec »

Hi guys, after alot of trouble shooting and long hours we've gotten my car running much better, heres all we've done:

New timing belt and other belts
Timing set to spec
Cam angle sensor 15 degrees
Walbro 255lph feul pump
Sard adjustable FPR set to 2.5 kg/cm2 during constant pump test
BCPR6ES plugs set to 0.8mm gap

I took out the plugs today and they were black all over, not wet atall, and those plugs have probably done around 100km now, see the pic below even though its crap quality:

With the car idling the feul pressure sits at 2kg/cm2, the vacuum source i used was the vacuum nipple on the back of the intake, because the stock vacuum hose from that solenoid didnt seem to do anything as the pressure would not climb if you gave revs.

All else seems fine, what could it be? Could my airflow meter be faulty or need adjusting, any info would be great thanks

Hi Rat, i had trouble with my car stuttering so we installed a TOMEI FPR and the problem was solved however after a week the dam FPR burst and flooded my intake and engine with petrol through the vacuum line, so after finding out i had some pirate golf feul pump i fitted a new Walbro 255LPH and i got another FPR from the shop, it then lasted 2days and the same thing happend! so i took the FPR back and demanded my money back as i suspect the FPR's were knock off, so anyways i now have a OEM RB25 FPR fitted and the car is driving well, but i have not checked the plugs since, so i will check them again and see if they still look so black, but i also had a short on my TPS sensor plug, the wires would touch sometimes, so i fixed that now, so il check my plugs again soon.

Thanks!
