My 200sx S13 wont start

Post by troopiec »

Hi guys, well like i said in my other posts i just got myself a 200sx and i drove it back from Joburg to Cape Town without any trouble atall, i arrived back yesterday and today was the first time just driving it around my area, the battery does not hold charge anymore but i could start it with jumper leads, but now tonight the car would not even try to turn over even with jumper leads.

My lights work and all dials appear on the dash and the petrol pump cycles through but when i try turn the key fully nothing happens, not even a dimming of light or a sound but if someone pushed the car even slowly i can kick start without any effort and the car runs perfect.

Is my starter motor completely messed? or did a connection come loose or something some how? Im going to take a proper look at the car in the morning but im just hoping its nothing serious.

Any thoughts would be great thanks

Could very well be a loose connection, or it has a broken connection.
Just look down by the starter and you should easily see if any wire is disconnected.

if the lights are still coming on then the batt is ok its most likely your starter is stuffed or a connection or even a fuse. if the last time you started up your car the starter didnt sound funny its likely not to be the problem check your fuse your cable and make sure you got a good ground. if you can get to the starter measure from ground to the positive cable you should get 12v then you should have another cable going to the starter that will be a +ve 12v signal, someone needs to turn the key and then your 12v signal will appear. if thats all there then your starter is broken. thanks guys for all the quick responses! its good to have a forum like this for technical support, but in the day light today i took another look and found that the signal wire going to the starter motor had just slipped off, so i popped it back on and wanted to start it but my battery is completely dead, no lights come on atall, but im sure that fixed the problem.

Just wish the dam shops would open so i can buy a battery! lol
