injector seals

Post by araf69 »

Hi all. First post, got my sx a week ago. CA18. I always get a petrol smell after I just driven my car. I see there some petrol lying on the intake. Think the injector seals are leaking. Can u get the o rings off the shelf like midas if you taking the sample. What type injectors are these? Brand? Cc?. Is it hard to take out the fuel rail? Thanks

Hey Cuz, firstly a hearty welcome to the forum and all that crap.... Always good to have new members / contributors and hope to see you at some events....

The CA18 seals should be possible to be bought at midas, otherwise, you can always find an oring place that should be able to organise you some, I know a good place in edenvale that has had near everything I ever looked for, they will even match matarial. Will need to be nitril based, just make sure of that.

Fuel rail is not difficult to take off, but yo will spill fuel so always a good idea to disconnect battery and make sure engine is cool. 3 Bolts and some piping to loosen.

Injectors are bosch oem and should be about 290cc if I remember correctly, either that or 340cc.....

The type is side load...

Hope this info helps, o and be carefull not to bend the fuel rail or the seals wont matter....

Good luck bud.

Hahaha I seem to be in the same boat

I think mine are the stock standard injectors - where in edenvale is the place (name maybe ?) is there any other possible place in JHB I can get them without ripping mine out as a sample as I would like to drive there lol
