Branches needed

Post by H8rlequinb »

Greetings Guys.

Well since the Manifold that was on while I bought the car was grinedded to fit onto the larger turbo it subsequently did not last and I was left with a hole in the manifold. Now I am a bit stuck... I bought a replacement not knowing it will not fit. Now I am looking for some one to sell/build me a branch to fit the larger turbo, problem is the guys are trying to rip me off.... One place charges me R4500 And the other R10000. I could build the damn thing myself if I had the tools!!!!! Anyone know of a place that will not overcharge me or know of anyone selling their set of branches?

Cheers!

Cheap Solution

Post by H8rlequinb »

Ok well after some fiddling over the weekend I spoke to so one whom I think can help me. Instead of a new branch he is building me a spacer. At the moment the manifold fits on perfectly and the rubbing on the turbo is very little (1- 2mm ) the only place I noticed a problem was the manifold having a small gap between the turbo and the manifold. The spacer that is being made will fill this gap hopefully.... Think it will work or am I wasting my time?

Cheers!

Ok, I can conclude after 3 days of cursing, blood, sweat and tears that it does not work. Did everything correct but the problem is now hitting against the engine mount instead of the mani.... It can not be made to work with this size turbo. Going to have the branches made, starting tommorrow.

Cheers!!!

ssautochrome has a bad reputation, their stuff does not fit perfect and does not last. google it before you decide..

THANX FOR THE INFO. MUST SAY I WAS A BIT SCEPTICAL WHEN I SAW SSAUTOCHROME " CHEAP PRICE " ON THEIR ADVERTIZED " SUPER TURBO KIT FOR CA18DET T25/28 " c/o TURBO , TURBO MANIFOLD , ALL BOOST PIPES , CLAMPS , 600 X 300 X 76 mm INTERCOOLER , B.O.V & WASTEGATE FOR UNDER USD 1000 SHIPPED TO ME . I EMAILED THEM 2 DAYS AGO REQUESTING CERTAIN INFO ie. MAKE / BRAND OF TURBO , B.O.V. , W/GATE etc. & IF ANY OF THEIR KIT PARTS WERE MANF. IN CHINA. STILL AWAITING THEIR RESPONSE . IT ALL NOW BEGINS TO MAKE SENSE. I WAS QUOTED BY " TURBODIRECT " IN MEYERTON , GAUTENG , R 9 500 - 00 ea. excl. vat for a GENUINE GARRETT BALL BEARING TURBO GT2871R ( RATED AT 475BHP ) FOR MY CA18DET , WHICH I AM BUSY WITH . I THOUGHT IT WAS A BIT HEFTY FOR THE TURBO ALONE , NOW IM NOT TO SURE . THANX ANYWAY !
