I am in the process of replacing my CA in my S13 with a redtop SR as part of my OEM Type X conversion.
My aim is to get it as OEM as possible.

Ja man, there's so many broken CA's and okes needing parts for them, so I decided to offer up my running CA as a donor to you guys... lol
At least it's a Nissan motor that belongs in the RPS13 chassis. I could've easily dropped in a 2JZ to that chassis, but for all intents and purposes, a SR is the right thing to do.

So the S14 ecu won't work on s13?

wiring and ecu plug not the same as far as i know.
ca18det s13 use obd I
sr20det use the obd II and you need it to plug in the consult cable for nistune

Thanks for all the feedback so far...
I am still in 2 minds as to which management system to run. The original plan was to run Nistune as the engine would largely remain stock-ish with very few minor upgrades. Car is to be used as a daily drive and anything over 200kW is just a waste.
Installing an ECU that would be overkill for such an engine where performance and power is not a priority is a waste of money. In the same breath I would also not want to spend money on an inferior system that could be harmfull to the engine should I choose to do the occassional Trackday.
This weekend I will research the various ECU systems available and hopefully be on the road next month with the new SR installed.
Please feel free to comment on various recommendations and experiences with ECU's and their related pro's and con's.

Its sounds as if you think nistune cant handle big power?
