1JZ vs RB25

Post by DriftSX »

I need advice between a 1JZ and a RB25, read on overseas forums and on wiki the 1JZ is by far more powerful and has more torque than the RB25.

But which conversion be a lil cheaper?

I still have my CA18 box with a Toyota Bellhousing so it should fit on the 1JZ seeing as I had it on my 7M.

Any help guys would be appreciated...

Your CA18 gearbox wont last long with either 1JZ or RB25.

Build a Hybrid in that case, Take the RB25 Head and bolt it to the RB30 block, that should give you allot more torque and also a 3L motor :-D.

The Rb25 motor N/a and the 1JZ N/A have simmular engine outputs which boils down to the point, where these guys comparing apples to apples when they say the "Toyota" made more power? In the end it depens on your $ and tuner

If your planning on saving a project like this wont go well with your pockets. I built a 4 Cyl now with some good groceries and i can tell you now it costs a fortune, Best bet would be to run a Sr20 in that case, they have enought torque, good motors, not to heavy on fuel, only got 4 pistons to attend to and can make some serious power! My friends car made 439whp on Perfect powers hub dyno on 1.5 bar boost with S15 Sr20 with forgies and T61 turbo.....it all depens on the kind of parts you put in.

RB30DET sounds nice just a pit it would eat through my pockets and into my leg to do that conversion..

I thought about a SR20DET swap.. I was a fool to sell my Red Top to Riekert for R800 and all it needed was an Oil Pump.. Non the Less.. SRDET swap in an S13 is way too common.. Its like a Honda Civic with a B20 swap or a Citi Golf with a 2.0 8v.... Yes performance parts are available, also I can easily make 200kw with a custom intake, bigger injectors, T28 Ball Bearing Turbo and higher Boost.. Correct me if I'm wrong..not sounding Cocky just like reading peoples builds

A few months ago I went to Mikes Place in Epping to get some quotes..

Red Top SR20DET - R9500

RB25DET - R9500 with box is R16 500

RB26DETT - R26500 without box

2JZ-GTE - R23500 with box

That's what they quoted me.. Wasn't interested in the 1JZ then until now but I think the 1JZ VVTI was going for R11 500.. Not sure about the 1JZ Twin Turbo.

Also someone told me the SR20VET was going for 20k with box.. Ridiculas.. Might aswel go for the RB25

I will hear by them tomorrow how much the Twin Turbo 1Jz are going for.. Excited to do the swap..

I'm a Nissan Fan.. But my hat goes off to Toyota.. My 7M still sounds sweet after how much abuse I give it..

In terms of the Gearbox you guys are right.. I know it wouldn't last.. Today I Fuked up my Clutch Plate or Mountings, its making a ticking sound and when I pull slowly away in 1st Gear my car vibrates and when I come to a stop it feels like the engine wants to cut out but when I take it out of gear it idles fine but still ticking though.. Read on the net and some forums, it could be 1 of 2 things. Either a broken Engine or Gearbox Mount or the Clutch Plate is fuked..

Thanx for help and input...
