something is not right

need some sx expertise. my ca18det was running fine the exhaust cam was a tooth out but still running fine so i just finished redoing the timing and with a timing light it lines up to the second mark on the crank pulley but the car doesn't want to rev and if you try it backfires a bit but sounds like its really struggling. Any ideas

The 2nd mark is TDC, you need to be on 15deg BTDC which is the 2nd last mark on the right.

Your cam belt has to line up with the marks on the gears or your CAS reading will be out.

thanks guys problem was it was at tdc not 15 degrees and once again a dud spark plug creating a misfire

Ja!!! i have to with these cars! seems like its a common thing on my motor for the spark plugs just to give up.

what spark plugs are you running and set to what gap?

Bcpr6es if running under 1bar set to 0.8. Works very well. Stock gap is 1.1 put old coils don't like big gap.

i run bcpr7ez with a 0.8 gap..............any problem with that?

I ran BCPR7es gapped 0.8 - 0.9 at 1bar for ages, I would change them every 10k km, with no spark plug issues.
