had a nasty rumbling sound from the diff yesterday and thought the diff was toast or at least on its way out. so after taking off the rims and drums i discoverd a bolt wedged between the brake sure and handbreak arm creating a nice wide groove inside the drum.the dumba ass that helped me put the diff shafts in droped a bolt and never looked where it landed. so ive been to 2 practice sessions with this bolt bobing about inside the drum, and finally getting jamed up. but alls good now everythings seem to be ok. i changed diff oil too. so ill see how it pans out. hope u got everything sorted your side. see you tomorw.

Hey Dj . hope u got home safely saw u being towed as i was getting ready to pack up. i know u mentiond some fuel issues .hopefully minor. since there were very few guys out and a few break downs .must say i was rushing thro the wheels as i had a early flight to JHB the next morning .so whne my wheels were done so was i. must say the diff oil change did a world of good i hafd some weird sound on the drive in but after the first outing the sounds were gone. im running a gear oil used on ships and ude never say i have a locked diff cause of little chatering sounds.
ow and we were all routing for your "new" driver on the first session on the pitch ,hope this is something u are encoringing.lol

Yeah the fuel tank seems to not baffle so well below half way so I am going to have to take it out and get Flat Four to work their magic some more.

The reason I stopped though is the engine got hot, so I towed it away to the garage to call it a night to be on the safe side. I will be going to have a look at it sometime this week but I didn't see any mixing so I might have got away with it. I doubt it went hany higher than 120 though as when the ignition was switched on again very shortly afterwards it was at 100.

I will update the thread soon with the report and a quick run down of how good the night was due to the new extra lock :) 90 degree entries FTW!!!

Unfortunately I have no images of the last drift event as it was a very quiet night....4 cars quiet but it was cool as it gave me a chance to give passenger rides, chill and socialise with everyone. It was to be expected though as the Kimberly NC Culture event was happening.

The extra lock on the car made an amazing difference, I entered a corner way too hot and span past what would normally be the point of no return but something told me to turn the steering more and true as nuts it caught it.....I was entering the corner at 90 degrees!!!! Next time out in this car I'll be practicing the 90 degree entries more, need some photos of it for sure!

So after the scare of an over-heated engine, I went to the garage this week and found it to be the thermostat that was stuck slightly open so it would be fine when it was cold but as it got to temprature where it should open fully, the car would get hot. So I installed a brand new lower temprature thermostat and she is keeping her temprature below 80 degrees :) What a relief. The Toyota motor lives to fight another drift day!

So next on the agenda is to remove the tank and get a few more bits done to it and put the car up on stands so that I can remove all of the suspension, check over everything and put it all back together and take it for my alignment settings again. I am doing this as a piece of mind as I now know the car performs like it should....I just want to know everything is 100% under the car.
