I did a 5-lug conversion on my car.But now the handbrake doesn't work due to the sx having totally different handbrake setup than the ZX.Can anyone maybe tell me where to get 300ZX rear discs?

Me and VeeCee are sitting in the same boat... can't find rear disks...
VeeCee did mention that his Nissan Patrol's rear disks might fit... 4/5 lug doesn't matter very easy to redrill you are already on 5 lug so you got the benefit...

Have you guys thought of going aftermarket brakes?

No... and since we all (most) of us already have the calipers, we won't consider it...
So the rears we need are 297x18mm
I thought they were bigger...
so we can use
89-93 GTST 297x18mm
89-93 GTR 297x18mm
93-98 GTST 297x18mm
98-on GT 297x18mm
98-on GTT 297x18mm

i have an xtrail - i wish had a patrol!!!
regardless - i still need to get the brakes off the xtrail, but they seem to be the right size. if they are, then you should be able to get local discs for it!
until someone has done the schlepwork though, we still sitting with calipers and no solution!
oh yes - motorcade, vlade is right, we have the calipers, and we cant use aftermarket discs because we need the internal parking drum brake arrangment for the conversion to still make use of the handbrake!

OK, just a thought.
To bad you guys are this far, you could have gotten calipers with handbrake built in

vlade-i'm such a stoopid A$$!!! i bought S14 hubs and put it on just like that!!Now I found out that the S14 uses the caliper for the handbrake and NOT separate pads!!I just need to pull the 5-lug hub off and then put it on my old hub and my handbrake will work again?hope I still got all that springs and stuff!!!

hey n1sho
please post pics of the s14 rear calipers, if you have!
i have the 300zx front and rears, but i dont see a way to do the handbrake using hte calipers - i would like to see how that works. i was thinking maybe i could find a way to use a hydraulic handbrake lever (like the d2 one) to convert from a drumbrake system to a proper discbrake system.
but how would i avoid pressuring the entire system, when i use the handbrake???

That's part of my stupidity!!I got the 300zx calipers ,but I got s14 hubs fitted. The S14 has a cable system on the handbrake that uses the caliper as the handbrake. Now I fitted the Whole spindle and not only the hub-so No handrake for me!I got 2 options....
1:)Buy s14 rear calipers and the handbrake cable that goes with it AND buy S14 rear discs.
2:)Pull the hub off the original spindle -replace it with the 5-lug hub from the S14 rear that is on the car at the moment and hopefully reassemble all the bits and pieces of the original handbrake assembly.
With option 1 I will have bigger rear discs and caliper braking...but what sometimes happens you drive hard and the discs is hot-you pull the handbrake and leave it.It cools down and there goes your car down the road!!
With option 2 I still have the original S13 calipers and no closer to fitting the ZX calipers!!
You get an cable extension kit to convert your S13 handbrake cables for it to be long enough to reach the ZX calipers-but aren't we still battling to find 300ZX rear discs??!!!!The kit is about 60US landed.
What to do......

so what I can gather is that when I pull my handbrake it has something else brake the rear wheels and not the disc and caliper, I didnt even notice this when changin my pads, so what if I do alot of handbraking, not that I have as of yet, but will the "handbrake" pads/shoes get used up, and my rear caliper pads not even get used by pulling the handbrake????

this is the 300zx handbrake setup-it's very close to S13 setup.

ok this sucks, so where do we get the shoe's when the wear out. O well want to upgrade my brakes soon in any case , have to source a brake kit then for all wheels then.

Because they are shoes, you can have them rebonded. Should be cheap.
I would consider it, because it's the handbrake only.......
