Engine Torque Dampener

I am having a little problem with a vibration in my car. When the car is at high torque low rev I get a vibration through out the whole car. 2 days ago my turbo nearly fell off, only had one nut holding it on. Ok I dont have the locking tabs to stop the nuts from coming loose but I made the nuts FT.

Now to me those bolts normally come loose when the exhaust is too rigid, but mine is not. I think the problem is, because the exhaust is so damn big and heavy, when the motor is at high toque and flexing in the engine bay it is turning the whole exhaust system (front to back) as I have no knuckle joint to allow it to turn on.

I have check the engine mounts and they are good. I have seen some sx's where they have a tie to limit the amount of turning the motor does in the engine bay. They are connected from the left hand side shock mount to the motor.

Anyone know where I can get this from or have any other ideas how I can solve this problem. This motor seriously flex's around, when it was on the dyno I thought it was going to rip out of the car.

Thats what I want. Do you guys think this will work?? I am a bit worried with it being on the turbo side, it might boil the oil inside?!

perhaps using some heatshielding if you worried about that.

Ratcheting tie strap from subframe to block will assist untill you can get a proper one.

It says if the motor moves more than .75 inch you should look at different solutions. How's your engine mountings?

Motor move more than that. The engine mountings are perfect.

I wonder if I'll be able to modify a superbikes steering damper to work on a engine. Might have to make it a lot stiffer. LOL.

Ja I would think they would have to be stiffer. Which I could get the force spec on the dampers cause then you could match them up with something locally.

nawww, the bike one is a bit "lig in die broek". 4x4 steering shock, a little to ugly and big.
