def the 10w60 - the heat + these thin oils = oil as thin as water and looking for a bearing knock - especially on a old motor. This topic has been discussed over and over and over and the consesus was that a top quality oil + prolong and oil change every 5000km. Honestly any good 10w60 15w60 20w60 would be good. the 60 means that is a little thicker when hot than your standard 20w50. but honestly it is your choice and everyone is going to tell you that your using the wrong oil.

Lol I always believed that castrol slx/edge was the best oil you could get, now I'm kak confused what oil I should put in, I want what's best for my engine and I will definately change it every 5000km or even if the oil is looking a bit too dark or worn out, the only other good oil I could find at suburban spares was shell hx10 but it was only 5w40, so as phoenix says I should get 10w60, so uhmm..... What to put in is the question lol

I run 5w40 shell in all my turbo engines. Castrol Slx is a very good oil but. 5w30. I live by the coast and it gets very hot here and I have used hx10 and Slx for the past 6 years on ca18's and rb25/26's.

A bunch of mechanics were invited to a technical and marketing evening in cape town and wee tried to give them feedback as to the problems we were experiencing with castrol products but they did not care they just wanted to know how they could dust off the bad image their product has  , hence they came up with the new marketing ploy of sludge removal even tho their products ads to this problem. I agree with Rat find the correct shell product for your application.

I use 5w-40 or 5w-50 just make sure full synthetic.

Brands wars are kinda silly they all have specs to meet
Vw used castrol now shell just whoever pays them more to be honest

I use fuchs as I'm sponsored by them never had a single problem on my race bikes, cars and sx's

Choice is urs

merely stated that the drift guys at the track seemed to like using it ALOT. I mysself do not an will not use it. 2c again not bashing anyone that do use it. however... I do wish the guys that make oils will make a fully synthetic that is a 10w60 and agree with the sludge thing... Castrol I would stay away if I could find something else at the right grade...
