Advice -RB25 timing

Hey GUyz

What you up2... Need advice on timing on my RB.. Runing wasted spark COP. I am using a digital timing light. (for Iinfo) .The timing on my ecu is set at 12 degress at idle. With the light set on 12 deg at idle the timing mark shows tdc. When i adjust the light to 0 deg the light flashes on 12 deg on pulley.

What i want to know is the timming setting correct. Becuase a friend of told me that on my current setting i am only runing 6 deg becuase it is a wasted spark setup and the light dont compesate for wasted spark you need to double timing to get it exact as timing on ecu.

So if i want to run 12 deg at idle i need to set the timing light on 24 deg in order toget timing figure correct. Is that true.

I need expert advise. because this setting crucial or can some one explain to what i should do.

THanks in advance

15deg is stock rb25 timing

Set all timing cells below 2000rpm to 15 deg and set your pully to 15degs. From there you can start mapping

Angelo, your friend is correct. 12 deg. will show as 24 on the light.
Dailed back you will see it go to zero on the pulley.(tdc)
Funny enough I redid John`s Celica this weekend with those exact figures.

Hi

So if i set the timing light to 24 deg will the actual timing then be 12 deg. becuase if i set the light on 12 deg then my actual timing will be 6 deg.

Correct me if my logic is wrong.

That is correct.
What ever you have on the timing light will be half of what you will see on the pulley.
When the light is on "0" deg it will be zero on the pulley. As you increase it on the crank it will double on the light.
