Post by Gary57 »

In the speedo consol on the lower left hand side, there are the warning lights. There is one with no picture, does this one have no use?? Any Idea what colour the LED is?? I got a good use for it  .

shouldn't be a problem to replace though, is it soldered to the board or clipped down?

I have opened up mine and replace all the ilumination lights(3 in total), they are push in lights eg.
Image

sortof like that but the stock ones are a bulb.
The small warning lights are smaller than that tho.

The one that isnt used on our cars warning lights has no globe and no turn socket either. but according to the lettering and following the tracks it is for the HI-CAS steering

the little glass nobby in the dash is just a coloured lense and I checked it was a red lense, thus using a white globe will give you a red warning light. I also had the idea of using it for something but that could be tricky as the tracks go to the wiring looms that plug in on the back of the instrument cluster.
I should've taken pics when I opened it up but hey , to late now.
EDIT:
found a pic of back o cluster

cool info ero,

guess its a biggie then!

maybe find the wires that control it, and "trick" the light into coming on and going off!

Thats what I want to do. If a trace the track and find out which pin works it then Ill cut the wire off and put my own to it.

If you mean the standard one then they are 12v globes and those as in the picture are 12v leds, there are 5 hi-brite leds on the one thing. works ok, had to bend some of the leds to point at the light deflection plastic thingamajigs in the cluster

Just to make sure we are talking about the same lights, its the same one as your brights, the little blue one in the bottom left.

the "empty" one(same as the blue brights light) except its red.
o yes they are called "wedge" bulbs
but as I said its smaller than the ones in the pic I posted, these are size: 194 (9mm wide) wedge used as the main illumination

the ones that light up the warning light are 5mm wide wedge type
but you still have the missing wedge holder problem(red rectangle knob on back of cluster 194 wedge, the blue ones are for the 5mm ones as seen top left in pic(used for warning lights)

hope this is what you meant?
