Hey Mario, thanks for answering questions, what cash difference you guys thinking for std cams, and what condition? Might just go get a tune, and see how much that helps it with its drinking habit! Just went through R150-R175 worth of petrol on a drive from milnerton to hout bay and back and drove normally( no racing/speeding ), that cant be right????

Hmmm, yes it can! Welcome to dicktator and a modified car!
But go for a tune, that idling doesnt sound right!

so you reckon dicktator more responsible for horrible economy rather than cams, and upgrading to Link will help improve economy during daily drive?

If tuned correctly yes.
I however do not know whom will tune it in Cape Town.
Best is to phone Rezlo and find out with him.

i had 272 cams in my N/a Sr20 which was well worked and made 115wkw and 181nm torque uncorrected on pump, and i got 650km per tank with stock management....
So its most likely your dictator......

How can you guys blame Dicktator for bad fuel economy ??? Any ecu that has been badly/incorrectly/shoddily setup and so called programmed WILL give you very lousy consumption figures.
Your LINK set up badly will be as bad , period.
Large injectors will also play havoc with consumption, even at cruising speeds. Injectors need about 1ms to respond once the signal has been recieved. On average an engine with correctly matched injectors should need around 2 ms open time at idle.
Now you have 650cc and larger injectors in your motor and it only works down to 1.3/1.4 ms at idle but still showing too rich..
Welcome to big injector world !
Like any computer, crap in=crap out, good stuff in=good stuff out..

Car runs stock injectors and was not mapped with economy in mind. Thats why I suggest that he must remap the car.
Also his car is idling at 1500rpm, main reason for the remap. When I had the car it was idling perfect. So something on the map went wrong.
Nobody is blaming dicktator, we all know its the map. However LINK will provide you with better cold start and other advantages over dicktator.
He wants a nice comfy everyday drive from the car. Dicktator will not do for that.

Mario, I have got my car, running on Dicktator btw, almost perfect for daily driving. It starts first go, idles perfectly, pulls from cold and hot superbly and I drive home in heavy stop start traffic from work everyday.
Its smooth, responsive and most of all, pretty good on fuel consumption .
Once again, if it is set up properly, it will reward you ten fold.
I am busy with data logging /tuning at the mo.. Once I'm done I will post my maps for everyone remotely interested to try .
Obviously it will be to my motor/injector size/ fuel pressure and boost threshold specs..
My other daily, an Alfa Gtv6 30 turbo is also on Dicktator. Has been for 12 years already. Same scenario, heavy traffic and crawling progress..smooth as a baby`s backside..

Agree fully with BK, any AMF system will be light on fuel if properly mapped, the problem is, guys map cars in 30min to an Hour, You can not map a car properly in that short space of time....
Secondly, you need to tell the tuner what you want from the car, or he will just do for power etc.... As most people want a car tuned for..... Which will make the car light but un reliable, and somtimes even not light due to too little fuel, so u push more gas and ping....Or they will tune rich to try make the car run more reliable, which in turn chews to much gas again
Best though is to get a car tuned to AFR for fuel economy and reliability, power not as high but reliability is king..... This type of tuning would take a lot more time than the usual and as such is not what you usually get... So it might even take a few tunes before u get it perfect.
As for cold start and all that, I maintain it is all in the tuning, including running smoothly, more load points = more control = more tuning time
My opinion though, I might stand under correction though.....

So I was trying to drop fuel pressure a bit today, based on some advice I got from a tuner, he was convinced it was my FPR. While fiddling I found a leak on the vacuum line to the FPR(it was actually the connector with like a disc in the middle which had broken, if anyone knows where to get a replacement.) So put a longer hose in to bypass the offending "thingy"....... And only driving a bit since sorted but feels a million times better already!!!!!! And no more big clouds of fuel behind me, STOKED!!!!!!!!

haha damn! that would cause alot of issues. especially cause it was going to the FPR. glad you got some of it sorted!

Shot Riekert, I love it when a R16.00 piece of pipe is the solution! Still wanna buy that AC comp off you, dont know if Im gonna swop BC cams anymore, will know in a couple days. Will take AC comp either way.
