Hi Guys

I need your help, i am considering purchasing a T28 or T3/4. Should i go the T3 route i will have someone build me a equal length 38m manifold.

In your opinion what would be the best, the T28 (Japan turbos') or the T3/4
The car wil be kept stock, besides for the plumbing changes....as the car is otherwise stock but boost would be kept low so i dont need to worry 2 much about running lean and and and...

Who knows of good exhaust manifold suppliers and turbo prices?

T3 manifold is like R2000~R3000 you still need the oil and water lines... turbo outlet elbow, re-route the intercooler piping... and a wastgate~!

He cuz,

The chinese T28 turbos have not yielded great results for guys sofar, reliability, If u want mid range paower that goes through the range, go T28, if you want pig top end power, the T3/T4 is beter... All depends what u want.... The exhaust housing will also affect how quick it spools, too small and u will cause back pressure though.....

What are you looking for in a turbo? Robot to robot, quarter mile, drift, etc.... Check out the Garrett website for the Turbo 101, 102 + 103 write ups..... Very informational, then make a choice....

But make sure the turbo has 2 cooling methods, water and oil, well oil will be both cooling and lubrication, but try get one that is water cooled as well....

Turbo Direct seem to be pritty good, go see them to help build you one for your purpose, they can do a T28 bush bearing with simmilar specs to the GT2871 which should be more than sufficient.....

Also with manifold, the Turbo Toys style one will mean u need to move ABS pump, try get a custom one done like Aep sais, then they can make fit withought moving the ABS pump....

Hope this helps.....

My vote goes for T28 but not a cheap copy, only the Garret

Hi guys

Thank you very much for the advice. Well i know getting the T28 will be less issues as its basically a bolt on.

With the T3/4, my friend has one on his car and its been working seamlessly for a while, he even bested a V10 m5 over 1.2kilo's... :D

I think i should let someone make me a custom branch so that i would not need to move anything,

Gonna give turbo direct a call and c what they have then ill give you guys some feedback :D

^^ Garrett is very good and prices well~
HKS Turbine are awesome but price too~!
Trust Turbo is journal bearing and no water cooling but still a formidable compressor~!

What do you think of the W280 with the .48 housing on the ex?

I spoke to Chris and he said i can expect about 150wkw with this baby and the spooling should come in early

LoL, Ye but im not building a racer, will fit all the other goodies with time. For now it would be pleasant to drive daily in and out of traffic.

How are you getting 170wkw with ur stock S14? u have the stock T28 on with other goodies or what?

Thats good!

At this point in time i dont want to buy a killer but rather just get a decent runner, if i get all my stuff sorted ill opt for a T3/w, equal lenght mani, water/meth cooler, bigger inter cooler, second batch injectors with decent management ans :-)

Id like to eventually have it to about 350whp...but for now a low boosting car is what i need for daily commerce :D

This Chris recons the W280 is way better than most comp, and they give 1 year warranty which is very nice! I would of loved to know whats the performance difference between a S14 t28 and the W280
