Howzit would anyone have a clue as to a funny howling echoey sound coming from when i drive. only if i accelerate does it do this. i recently did my engine, put new gaskets and the sr20det turbo on. when idling or just revving the engine i dont hear the sound. i changed the oil and used engine flush to clean out the old oil because i had run the engine in now. but the sound does not sound right, i think it coud be the turbo, but there doesnt seem to be a loss of power. any help will be appreciated thanks

are you sure the whining sound is not your wife???

i've had this problem before, and i cured it with chocolate.

hhhhmmm... did someone say chocolate.

failing that listen to vlade, cos when my turbo was tired, it used to whine too!!!

I just had a turbo making a screeching noise and after stripping found the compresso0r wheel was bent and broken. Customer still insists the truck turbo hybrid abortion that the Cape Town engineers fitted is perfect.

sorry, but i automatically thought of whining, because that was what mine did!!

oh ja - we talking about turbo's!!!

mine sounded like it was sucking up little squirrels and processing them!!!

but if yours is making a screechy howling sound, and you're sure that its "not right", then if i was you i would first go check on your banshee, and then call a priest!

and if you have a hybrid truck abortion then get a new one anyway! no-one likes those truck abortions! there are a few turbo rebuilders around, so i wouldn't be too worried about that; but how's your relationship with the bank manager. hope he/she's not a screechy howler too!

thanks very much but it looks like the turbo has blown. cause i did use the wrong oil. but i changed it after i ran it in to the castrol edge sport. i was taking it to harties today and it was blowing way to much white smoke. my friend who has an sx and also blew his turbo told me to stay because it was the symptoms of a blown turbo.
and with regards to the wife i dont have one yet. so my only whining is my car at this stage. ill take the chocolate for myself.
is it best to just change the turbo or is it better to fix it. i got the normal T25 turbo still. thanks again

ya the bank manager is another story, but that ill leave for the standard bank forum. yip its definitely processing the squirrels alright and spitting them out the exhaust in a smoke form. so its definitely not a good screech trust me.

way too much white smoke
AFAIK any smoke is way too much smoke.

and its a matter of finance, if your t25 can do the job then use it. if its broken too, then dont use it!

Yep, Castro edge apparently is not fully synthetic, but because they use some sort of synthetic process & yadda yadda yadda, they can brand it as fully synthetic.
I suggest Mobil1, Castrol RS, Shell Ultra Helix.

Don't start with the oil thing again please.....any synthetic oil should do, even castrol edge sport....I used it for long and had no probs
