Adding Dumpvalve to standard s14 will it confuce ecu?

I have a S14 running standard management, will I confuse the ecu when adding an aftermarket dumpvalve, dumping the air to the atmosphere?
Cause I know most vehicles with airflow-meters require to dump the air back into the system.
Did anyone had any problems with this?

Stick to the recirc system or none at all if you stay below 1.4 bar boost

Careful not to cause another hole in the atmosphere.
It might just stuff up your fuel consumption a bit.

Efini-Boy,
With dump to atmosphere on a MAF driven system (Standard System) the MAF calculates the amount of air required pre dump valve, so if this air is dumped, yes the car will run rich on initial throttle open. Over fueling. This in turn can cause stumbles in throttle responce and even eventual damage to your lambda sensor that is standard on your ECU.
If you want a Dump valve to assist in turbo lag reduction, you will need a nice re circulating sequencial bov like the HKS knock off available at Turbo Toys, which comes with re circulation adapter. But in this event, u must not be after the sound.....
If you are after the dumping sound, then you would require an ECU with a MAP sensor, wich as the name sais, is a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, this then measures the air pressure directly in your manifold which is not affected by a BOV or Dump Valve. Then u would be able to use BOV's like the Tial 50mm range even.
Best thing anyway I feel is to go After Market ECU, but then either have it installed one time shoe shine by a tuner that is accredited with that system, or be willing to have ur car stand for ages while u try figure it out urself.

P.S. Make sure to go for a well designed BOV, like with an oring seal on the piston, DumpValves like the Excell ones, don't have orings and are alu on alu seal and start dumping on their own at about 0.5 bar boost, thus causing boost leaks. Also try not to get a dual stage one, the dual stage dump valves have 2 springs, one that releases boost on boost, then the other on vacume, all good and well if you use it purposly and can match springs to boost, but not good if u a beginner with no contact for pressure matched springs..... (Commonly knows as super sequencial dump valves ( these are the ones that make the fluttering blow off sound rather than the single smoothe blow off), sequencial bov's are better.)

psst excell ssq has oring seal and twin pistons mine has never leaked

I had 2 with of the ones with the horn, both leaked, my one friend has one of the same alough he was lucky enough that his Doesn't leak. But his still doesn't have an oring to seal the piston face, please post pic of ur and the oring if u have pics, would be interesting to see. Will take pics of mine n show you what I mean.

ill have to strip mine again when i can find it a box of my rebuild parts has gone missing
but when i did strip it was a oring but like i say ive never had a leak

i just striped mine and i see what you talking about it does seal on alu to alu but that just a boost flap to keep it sealed while the other piston is open only thing i can think of why it leaks is your parts need a clean and rubber greased or one surface is damaged
best way is stick a condom over the turmpat and see if it inflates

As u can see, don't know if u have a diffirent type though, but both mine are like this, that's what put me off the excell ones. If they had an oring I would like then coz they make nice sound.....[/img]

Lol, same thing with urs, also I'm not talking about the piston shaft orings, I'm talking about the piston face oring, non there. Its alu on alu reliant seal. Or even valve face if u wanna call it that, but as I said, one of my friends have one that is running fine too, but his only boosting 0.5 bar as well. Both my red and blue ones kept throwing boost away, kept hearing a hiss when in boost, then when took off, boost was stable and no hiss.
My point is, some work, some don't, it's luck of the draw with them from my experience.

mayb look at the sealing face at o.5bar boost the vac/press line should hold the dv closed mayb you restricting the flow to the dv somewhere
my dv sits by my throttle so the line is very short

i'm using one of the xcell ssqv with the trumpet boosting around 0.65 bar and it works fine, and makes a good sound

Thanks Powder, I'm gonna stick with the sirculation system, have a copy of the Greddy Seq dumpvalve I'm gona plumb into the system, I made sure its got o-rings
