Roadworthy

So my car has passed MOT (Roadworthy) here in the UK but there is no doubt there is going to be differences in South Africa so for now I have two questions:

1) Do they test for the catalytic converter? (I will be replacing mine with a decat this wekeend)
2) The minimum tread depth here is 1.6mm accross 75% of the centre width of the tyre, what is it in SA? Also do they kick up a storm about inside wear (due to negative camber)?

Anything else strict in SA about roadworthy that I need to make sure I'm prepped for? Are thy going to fail me on my cable ties holding on and together the body kit?

Cheers
Dylan

when i was in NZ it was just like the UK they check everythign.... but here in SA... as long as your car is running... everything is working they wont give a shit... a guy i know he takes the cars to do roadworthy you pay R500, he makes sure everything is passed for you^^

Not that i think my car will fail...it had no issues here and its a very solid, good car. Everything is done over on my s14

It's just the laws may be different (ie. the catalytic converter)...just want to check if I should keep my cat for the roadworthy.

To answer your question - No, a cat is not required by law in SA. Minimum tread depth is 1,2 mm IIRC.

If you car is in good nick you won't have an issue. Otherwise you can just do ot the corrupt way....

P.S. I can get you the road worthy done without taking your car in and normally you will get the certificate back the same day.

It cost R230, a bit ore than taking it in yourself but you don't have to go in or put it this way your car doesn't need to go in.
