Nissan 200SX Club - South Africa

Hi All,
I am a new member (just bought a stock with no mods at all sx13), its pretty much in a running condition ,
I have been doing quite a bit of research on the net with regards to moding the motor etc, there are so many things that I can do but have no idea where to start, I have purchased a "2nd hand" motor which will give me a couple spares,
Things that I want to start with is the : Engine management system, radiatior, fan , oil cooler , intercooler and the exhaust system
not having the know on the 200sx , i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction , on where to buy these items, I have found a whole load of places on the net as well as in the speed and sound mag, who or where would be the best "1 stop shop" ,
Which engine management system would be the best to use , should i also look at upgraded injectors , if so which woudl be best suited ? I want to be able to connect my laptop to it and "play" with the settings etc.
Someone mentioned that I should look at the Haltek system ? any thoughts and / or ideas ?

do you plan on doing all yourself, or having it done?

I wouldn't go playing too much with mapping the ca yourself unless you are prepared for the worst.

I'd go stage 1/2, so exhaust from turbo back, filter, FMIC, Walbro fuel pump, boost controller, boost guage and a T28 if your budget allows.

You can then get a management system installed and mapped professionaly.

Thanks for the replies ...., I am going to do all the work myself, i am hoping that it will be a work in progress ....
having said that, I would like to get the foundation right so i dont land up redoing or buying things that I dont need,

djtreble, do you have any recommendations on where I should buy these items, or should I just shop around ?

Unfortunately I'm in the UK (Only going to be in CPT in April) so I couldn't tell you were in SA to buy them, I'm sure someone will come along here just now to tell you where you could go.

You could pick up a fairly priced second hand T28 off the forum or classifieds if money is an issue.

There is a very good UK company here which I would highly recomend if you can pay the shipping costs, they are:

I will hopefully become a distributor for them in SA in the near future but for now you can buy directly from them.

I would say money isnt a problem , but I do have a spare few coins to throw at my new toy

Ofc you can always go for a bit more... Go for a bigger turbo, mani, injectors... and you are in for a good time... Depends on how much you want to spend.

Hey bud, firstly welcome, secondly I would say you have the right idea so far, just ad a walboro or vdo fuel pump capable of about 4bar pressure.... And ye injectors are a good idea, 440 Bosch should be ample to start with, depending on how crazy u wanna build her up. I would also add an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator....

Third and most important, I agree with DJ, leave the tuning to the pro's, or atleast till you know better.

Fourth, welcome to the world of 200SX, also commonly known as "Wait + Pay" which you can expect to do a lot of.....

@ H8rlequinb - 2 months is nothing compared to my 27 months...

She's been running trouble free for the past 3 months now and I am soooooooooo loving it. Been using it to work everyday now for 3 weeks and achieve about 450-500km's per tank with normal town driving....

As for your mods... I agree with what a few okes here have had to say... leave some things to the tuners that know, ask as many questions and join us in the next meetup to really get to know the cars and the awesome owners they have.
