Hey Bud,
You can have the alternator serviced and rewound same time, this will allow you to uprate the battery you can use and then you can have it wound to about 100amps.
The current power rating of the standard one is about 80amps if I am not mistaken.
O and yes a CA18 Alternator will definitely fit, I think you just need to drill the ring terminal to make it fit properly... But other than that, fits perfectly.

Thanks Powder! I am thinking that it will be better to have it recondition like you say, that way it will also be like new after! any suggestions where to have it reconditions in the jhb area???

Okay now I have been told to try to replace the DC regulator on the alternator first as this commonly wares out. Called a spares shop to find out how much they are and they are apparently two types of Alternators bosch and Lucas

not sure of the spelling does anyone here kow which one it is please???

As far as I know its a bosch , but I could be wrong. Also call Breno parts in kensington, on broadway rd next to midas. They know a brilliant guy....
Also tryto google the alternator brand for your model, might just come up to confirm

Thanks Powder! according to the service manual I got, it is a mitsubishi, and the regulator being on the inside, not sure? will have to go under and look
