problem starting with the starter motor ?

Hi i have recently changed the head on my ca18det and now everything and back 2gether and running quite well, appart from the fact it wont start with off the starter motor. It takes very little effit 2 start with by push starting it and runs fine after that but with the starter motor it just wont start ? I have tryed everything i can think of but i can seem 2 fing anything wrong. Any advice would be greatly appeciated

is the starter motor turning the engine or not?

yes the engin is turning over, it sounds like it want to start but it just doesnt. and there is a smell of petrol after i push start it

Did you put all the earths back on the head, like the negative from the battery?

Thanks guys but the strangest thing has happened to day! I tryed starting it thismorning and it started fine and has been fine all day. I have no idea what was wrong, i can only assume maby a plug might have been slightly loose

starter brushes is kaput R200 max for the brushes

it could be the injectors... that what happen to mine ><
