Management Systems

Post by WooHaa »

Okay, let's start this debate. 8)
I want to fit a management system. the problem is that there is so many out there & everybody claims to be the best.

I thought of MrTurbo as there I can plug in my Laptop & load various FuelMaps.

I Also thought of Ram Mapping where they keep your existing fuel maps & just add more.

I thought..of....& the list goes on. What are your guys thoughts on this. Someone said Unichip is da best...

ok, im no expert (wel obviously  ) but can you even do Ram mapping on our ECU's ?? dont you need ODB2 for that?

Im sure a Unichip is alright. but has limited functionality compared to even the local managemant solutions.

Dicktator is the only 1 iv'e ever seen advertise for the SX, but im sure most if not all can work. So far id have no problems going with Gotek, Mr Turbo, Dicktator or any1 of the main local brands. Price is obviously a factor and no local systems seem to cator for electronic boost control where the international (and outragiously expensive) ones do.

As a side note, I have a EEPROM programmer and some software to make the changes. Can more than likely still get the chip in the ECU and I have a very BASIC understanding of the settings.

I.E: theoretically i can program my own maps and whatever and plug it directly into the ECU inplace of the old 1

lemme post up what i know so far, maby some of you have some ideas. Obviously im too scared to make changes plug it in and see what happens. Perhaps once i get down to doing some decent research.

Damn! That's amazing. This sounds like what ChipLogic does. they access the existing chip & make changes. Maybe there are settings on the internet one can find that allows for better fueling & higher boost etc, etc.

Will the ecu allow you to make these changes? I would think Nissan Lock the ECU some how....Just a guess :?

you would burn it on a new chip and take nissans one out

you take out the ecu:

open it up:

take out that board:

Tada, there she is

I think more research is needed into this. If we can get the settings I would be willing to take out my chip & burn the new one on.............hhhmmm  Freddie, just let me know how much you want for your ecu
just in case..... :x

Here is my opinion, I have a unichip, you can map it just as good as an management system, the problem is you are also limited, it will cover a bigger scope of mapping, that will give you the same as an management system, but as I said it's olso limited where an management system covers an even bigger scope of mapping which you can alter yourself with a laptop for racing eg.

Pros unichip:
cost less to fit R1400+-
for the normal guy on street that needs perfotmance.
Generally lighter on fuel...(not mine)
Caters for all fuel/air needs.
faster to fit.

Cons of unichip:
limited in terms of racing
for the normal guy other than Daniel it is hard to remap.

Pros of Management:
Wider scope and can do it yourself
For the racer if need be
kicks out all extra coils, meters and stuff that generally gives you an headace.

Cons of management:
Costs more +- R4000 to buy and install
generally heavy on fuel
can scrue up if the right people don't do it
takes longer to install

I have a ROM editor for the standard ECU if you want - you can make your own map! Just unsolder the original EEPROM, solder in a socket, then you have the option of using an EEPROM emulator via a laptop (which allows you to remap on the fly), or else just program the EEPROM and stick it in. Anyone interested in the details?

I'd be interested. I like the "plug the laptop & edit on the fly" idea.
What do I have to do?

has anybody tried that rom editor? firewall stops me downloading it at work so i cant check. but i have a sweet one specifically for the CA18det ecu. works great with the bin file, shows maps, most things are simple enough. just wondered if it was the same one

Yea I played around with it and it looks good, though I never actually downloaded the ROM into my ECU. It's very funny though, 'cos the menus are all translated into English from Japanese, so to load an address file, you click the menu that says: "Are crowded as reading address file" heheheh

But the 3d view is great - kinda works like the laptop in the first fast & furious :-) If anyone wants to mess around with it, I have enough electronics knowledge to help you screw up your ECU :-) And I can program EEPROMS. I could even try to build an EPROM emulator for a laptop.

Here's what it looks like:
