i have been told by someone that is fairly clued up that my motor is likely to run bearings if i do any serious drifting without replacing my sump with a baffled unit. could someone please let me know. i just go my car yesterday and it is going to need some work to play properly (an s14), but i would really like to get it sorted out before i play hard and hurt stuff that could have been avoided.

Yep.
S14's dont have much sump capacity so do anything you can do to help it.
Just dont buy a sump from the PE supplier unless he has a different source I fitted 2 of them to the same car and they both pissed oil as they were porous.

i thought that you should do something like this, and i posed the question in an earlier thread.

i'm too lazy to look for it, but the jist of it was that the oil pan on our ca18det motors had a deep enough recess, and windage tray, that prevented oil sloshing around enough. i see that you the s14, and therefore the sr20 motor - so i cant really comment on yours though.

except to say that many of our drifters are using extra oil just to be sure! this includes the s14 drivers!
