Heres an update as we are about a week away from first startup.

The inlet of the turbo suffered some damage from unknown causes so we've had to get the wheel shaved and balanced, it is currently being worked on:

Head skimmed, new valve stem seals, valves lapped, etc:

Those with a keen eye will notice that on my head some of the pitting is still there on the flat surfaces, we couldn't safely remove enough material from the head so to help with the lowering of the compression ratio, we have had a custom redline headgasket made thicker than stock and the firing ring encircling the pitted area so it is part of the combustion chamber (You can actually see the outline of the gasket firing ring on the head). We have also enlarged the combustion chamber on the head to improve flow and aid in decreasing the compression ratio due to the larger bore on the headgasket.
Here is what a standard head looks like:
Image

This headgasket is indestructable stainless steel when the head and block are skimmed to perfection as they are now:

Here are the custom pistons on stock rods:

Block honed, cleaned and skimmed (I will snap a pic of the surface and bores when the sub assembly is together):

And the other bits:

It will all be going back together starting form today.

Whilst I was waiting I got to customising and refreshing the tired looking cam cover (all lettering removed, cast flaws, deap scratches and dips in the cam cover were filled with filler to achieve the smooth look I'm after):

It is now in primer and will be painted soon, can't wait to have it finished with my company design put on it. Next updates coming soon.

The normal acl bearings are good enough, budget is a huge thing in this rebuild. Acl race bearings are just a bit more of a piece of mind. If acl duraglides couldn't handle it the guys at redline wouldn't have given me the option. They rae building the engine knowing how hard I drive it

And the car awaiting it's heart:

Still pretty clean underneath, will need to underseal and clean up the suspension parts before they do rust though:

And a different view of the intercooler setup:

Dude you should have done some cleanup on them ports. Too many humps and bumps inside there... it was apart anyway... Wish I did it when I had the head off. Just a smooth and polish.

I asked the guys if its needed and they said no because its pretty smooth on mine and the work they did in the combustion chamber of the flame face if the head is more than enough already. They said they would have done it if it needed.
