RB troubles

So the RB's never fail u...well almost never anyway...had a problem which really was a bugger to find.
It started as being a simple hiccup once in a while going over to engine cut out from time to time under boost, one moment she runs sweet the next moment there is nothing when u floor it.... it's dead........obviously you pull over to inspect only to find she is running smooth again....hmmm
So what could this be? well i was given a number of a chap so i phoned him to ask WTF could this be....he gave me some telephonic advice and armed with a soldering iron i did exactly what he said, it's been 3 days now and the problem hasn't crept back again.
I will monitor this solution he gave me but it seems we might have found someone that actually knows the RB engines, i assume he knows the CA's and SR's as well..
Anyway it's just some info i'm posting.

A rather common culprit in the Nissan scene

Jeah common problem, can't really chuck the AFM out as i will need to chuck my HKS system then out as well....so i guess it will always reveive TLC.

You can always get that HKS module that converts the MAF to MAP based input, there was a guy on the Zoopedup forum that wanted to sell his for a crazy R2200

Expensive but : HKS is a very good product well worth investing in, i had my RB motor built into my S13 2 years ago or so and really had no hassles, i run all Nissan parts like the wiring loom, ecu and HKS system...it's a nice solution.

Well for one i don't race it as all older forum members will know, obviously the six is heavier than the CA18 but i donno if really has a great effect, it might tho who knows...i run it a constant 0.5 bar boost for daily use but it's a nice car at 1.2bar boost...i can really say it with confidence...donno i just want a nice daily driver......but if u ever have the chance to get an RB built into your car you should go for it.

Hey Putzmeister, i'll be doing the conversion in two months time RB25DET into S13 just trying to get my pockets ready for that

.
So tell me... who did the conversion for you? and who helped you with the little problem you had (who is the RB man)?
Tell me something are you still running the original turbo or did you changed it?
What are you power/tourque figures at 0.5 bar?
I would like to have as much info as possible so that incase we get stuck

hope not.
What ECU are you using??HKS??

Hija, i had a whole right up about the conversion on my site 200sx.co.za before i %$ked up the site lol..anyway that's not the point, Johnnie Walker did my engine fitment in Rutsenburg ( respect )
Some things you need to have before hand.
- Bellhosing Rb motor.
- other sump, mine was all wheel drive.
- coil issue? hope u run the original wiring loom and ECU on the RB motor else it may be %&^up. ( donno mine is all std )
- shorten propshaft.
- 76mm zorst i assume.
Cost me total of 25k. ( anyway don't count anymore lol )
And some other small stuff and to answer your question bout the Turbo, no i upgraded to a T3.5 with modded blade wheels for specific power at specific boost type of thing..
Listen if u need Johnnys number lemme know, the build will cost you about 2.5K to get it properly fitted the first time.
My number is 082-619-144-4

Thanks Putzmeister for the feedback,
Tell me something you mentioned that you had the AWD engine so it means you have the RB26DET & not the RWD RB25DET correct?
tell me something is the motor included in all 25k or just fitting the engine cost you that much? I also sent you a pm asking what ECU are you running? You see my engine came with all the wiring and plugs intact but no ECU if i could find an original ECU i can get my conversion done in a weeks time but i'm still saving for a Gotech Pro thats what i can afford at the moment so i'll give it a try.
Ya you can send me Jonnys number
