Hi Everyone
Thank you so much for all of the help with the headgasket and waterpump!
This weekend i pulled my motor out to rebuild it from scratch.
My biggest surprise though was the turbo... its a TB28...
But then came the bad news. Exhaust manifold has a huge crack in it! that needs replacing.
Im going to pull the head today. Then we will see in what condition the internals is in.
Thing about that turbo I got, when I bought the car it was boosting 0.7 bar.
Then I found this weekend the turbo was loose on the manifold, i could get a car key in between the turbo and the exhaust manifold and had just 2 nuts holding it on! and there is no gasket! Next thing. The exhaust manifold also had no gasket, and the bolts i could remove with my hands. Now my question. What would my car be able to boost with that turbo if everything was sorted?
Here is my baby the day I got her...
Here is some pics of what happened the weekend, sorry about the quality of the images, it was taken from a phone!

I just pulled the Head of now. There is definite oil and water mixture, but no break in the head gasket!?
but in any case, the head and the block goes in for reconditioning!
(as soon as the funds are there)
Thx rat, But i did all of that just the saterday Pulled the head now in my lunch break!
Very very bad carbon buildup!
Sleaves looks good, pistons looks good, now the big Q, Do i open up downunder or not?

My advise would be too pull off the sump and check the bearings. To be 100% sure I would take out the crank, send it in for polishing and replace the bearings with ACL race bearings. Bearing knocks on these CA18's happens allot...thats how my CA18 died!
Rather safe than sorry....I must say its nice seeing a CA18 in a S13 these days.....dont get them allot anymore!

haha ya. like mario said... do the underside while your at it... don't be a idiot like me and just do the underside and not check the piston rings too...

IM going to do that yes, but just 1 problem... In my excitement to pull the motor, i forgot to drain the oil... so once i can make a plan there, i wil open the sump...
I have a special plan with my CA18. Watch this space...

Oky, so the whole motor is open, almost everything is getting replaced!
Here is a initial list of parts and work that needs to be done:
ACL bearings all round;
Eagle conrods;
Airias Pistons;
Crank balancing;
block reingeneering;
cometic headgasket;
head skimming & reconditioning & gasflow(maybe, maybe not);
Arp bolts;
Upside down exhaust manifold;
complete gasket set,(still deciding if i am going to do a original Nissan, or Payen);
New oil and water pump;
Still searching for a aftermarket intake manifold;
still deciding on throttle body
electric radiator fan;
bigger radiator;
nistune daughter board(type 1);
650 cc injectors;
aftermarket fuel rail from Mr turbo;
new cam pullies;
still deciding on what degrees for the intake cam;
stainless steel boost pipes;
aftermarket fuel pump;
fuel pressure regulator;
front mounted intercooler(550X230X65);
oil cooler;
aftermarket wastegate and dump valve( still deciding on type, make, ext);
Boost controller;
Turbo timer;
Heat wrap the manifold and down pipe;
Its a long build, about 6 months, so wil be putting on parts when the funds are there! will post pictures as i get the parts!
