Yip, remove all your petrol from tank, and see if it is burning
(Put a wire directly on fuelpump from a battery)
On an s14, i removed all the petrol and it is burning very dimly, that means youre already standing ones its on

It depends on what the problem is. That is where fault finding skills come in. Eliminate the easy to check possibilities first and once you have eliminated everything you have found the problem.
Easiest is probably to check that the bulb is working. Hardest is probably to check the sender unit is working properly.
Pull stuff apart, learn how it works, fix it if need be, and put it back together again. Its only bits of metal and plastic.

Exactly the same happened with mine, stoped working after I fitted the new feul pump. I think running the sx really emty on the tank, will then tell us something.

Mine did the same, but decided to just keep going, this morning the light came on, 401 km's in daily traffic....
I must say, I am empressed that the sx with a wolf 3d un tuned is running 400km's per tank in traffic....

I was certain my fuel light wasn't working. only after a year of owning the car did i ever get the fuel tank low enough for it to come on. Instantly got 100km extra out of a tank LMAO.

Ha ha, mine dies out about 5km after the feul light comes on, o and of course it chokes just before it comes on if I put her into boost.
Forgot to tell my boet that though when I left my car there for him to carry on with and he got stuck about 10km from home. lol
Needless to say, my boet swore at me from a dizzy hight when I replied "O yes, forgot to tell you"
I am though planning on putting a new feul level indicator system in though to try sort this out, either that or try fixing the current one...
