i dont think they should be re-used so it doesn't matter if they break off!!!

but you know what's funny???

i have a spare set collecting dust in my garage - its a result of 2 head rebuilds, and too many spares afterwards.

they still in plastic, and the seal has never been broken. its how i received them from nissan.

u want some???

There are special pliers that grip the body not the sdeal itself.
Otherwise you can try driving a thin screwdriver between tyhe seal and the valve guide distorting the seal enough so you can pull it off.

I recommend you use the riight tool.
Why are you not reconditioning the cyl head? Replacing the guides if needed and a decent valve seat job are the easiest way to pick up power esp on a turbo car.

On this note... how do you remove the valves on these blerry engines... Toby and me sorta tried on Saturday with my valve tool but that thing don't work on hour heads.

here's a litle tricky. I put a socket over an just tap it once or twice, the cholar jumps of nicesly

@ calibrator. I'm doing everything that's needed, I wil get to grinding the valves just a bit later, and the guides will be checked as well. I'm just dreading cleaning the valves, the look as though the were baked in carbon. the motor was in a real state and not looked after
