Okay guys .... now I am in the Akkies !!! :(

I am replacing all the lifters and have just snapped a camshaft cap bolt in half. The Agents don't have stock and I need to get my beast back together.

Who can help me with a bolt ? Cape Town area.

Thanks

Andrew

if you don't come right - take one of the other bolts - similar length to a bolt and nut place. they will sort you out with a similar tensile, thread and length...better than using another second hand bolt that may also snap.

Yeah thanks.

I was considering doing that anyway , but I thought that I would just get from the Agents , because I have just snapped another 1, but at R600 for the 24 bolts , I will rather go to Bolt & Nut or 1 of those guys.

Thanks

So be it !!

No joy. No-one has the bolts , not even similar. Ordered from Nissan SA @ R600 . 2 days till my beast runs again !

The bolts are HT , 7mm sleeve and 6mm thread , and all that is available (according to the guys in the know) :? is 6mm or 7 mm.

Don't have a choice, I snapped 2 bolts off and had to pay R340 and then another R150 to remove the second broken bolt. So getting the lifters at a good price is now costing another grand.

I supose it is par for the course. You can't win them all.

It beats the hell out of 1 of my camshafts flying out through the bonnet oneday !

By the way , all 16 lifters from Alert is R1039.68 inclusive. Speak to Alvon Carstens. Just ask for the 1.8 16v Sentra (CA18DE) lifters ,it's the same thing. I have heard from some guys , that the quality will probably be crap , but that is an old story. The stuff gets made to SABS standards and I had allready put 4 in 5000 kilometres ago and they are still fine.
