Well done Charl. You did not waste time with the build! Thanks for helping me out with my lights the other day. I appreciate that you so willingly share your technical knowhow with technically handicapped people like me. Maybe one day I'll get there. Regards

Re: Project KHF (SR)(ex-VG30DETT ,ex-Charl)
Had to do some work as the head gasket was leaking oil out and water in:
Head Removed:
Took the head in to be skimmed as it was warped, put the head back with a cosworth metal head gasket:
While busy replaced the heater/water hoses with new silicone ones too.
All done engine running with no apparent leaks of any kind:

Ok so about a little more than a month ago the SR spun a bearing on no. 4 Rod.
Causing all sorts of kak. I have decided to do all the work myself, bar the engineering parts of course.
I got myself some tools, engine crane and engine stand, which surprisingly fit into the new daily
I was a little confused as to why this happened as the engine has been going strong and well maintained.
So I started with the strip and not too far into the strip I turned the engine around on the stand and heard a clunk... very strange indeed. So taking off the Oil pan I found this:
A design flaw apparently as this has happened to others according to some googleing. And Nissan changed this in later SR's, Notice the different mount point for the arm:
Different progressions during the Strip:

Re: Project KHF (SR)(ex-VG30DETT ,ex-Charl)
There where some not so nice lines down the cylinder as well as some piston skirt damage, I am guessing this is due to a previous overheating incident. So I took the block and crank to the engineers.
We decided it to be better to re sleeve as the block has been drilled before, and they re cut the crank.
I ordered some new goodies which arrived yesterday and will be taking this to them so that they can get the clearances correct.
Genuine Nissan OEM Complete Engine Gasket Kit (Set) S13 SR20DET RWD
Nissan OEM S13 (Blacktop) S14 S15 SR20DE(T) Oil Strainer Pickup Tube
Eagle CRS5365N3D SR20 SR20DET Chromoly Forged Connecting Rods
CP Pistons Nissan SR20DET 86.0mm
ACL Race Main Bearing Set Nissan SR20DE/SR20DET
ACL Race Rod Bearing Set Nissan SR20DE/SR20DET
Crank Thrust Washer Bearings SR20DET
